Glasgow Science Centre gets a visit

Yesterday we went to The Glasgow Science Centre for our school trip.  It took an hour and a half to get there, but we used up the time by playing on our Nintendo’s and Ipod’s.  When we got there we walked in and got showed somewhere to put our bags and lunchboxes.  Next we went [...]

Hibs Tournament

With the P7s away at a Guitar Hero do, we (the P6 boys) got to compete in the Hibs 7 a side tournament. It was awesome. Our games were played in the big inside barn with real artificial grass. We played 3 games - we lost the first to Kings Meadow but bounced back to [...]

P6 Rugby Festival

Today P6 went to a rugby festival in Tranent (Ross High). It was great. Team 1 won one game but still really enjoyed it. Team 2 did even better, with all three of their games being wins and scoring a huge amount of trys. My team (Team 3) did OK winning two of our three games. The [...]

Microscopes & creepy crawlies

On Thursday 4 people from Edinburgh University came to show us their microscopes. It was really cool. There were loads of plants, bugs, mouldy food and everyday stuff like money (£5 note and velcro and stuff like that). The microscopes made everything really clear and almost 3D  - like the Sky HD advert on TV. [...]

P7 Hockey!

At the end of May ten pupils from P7, Lydia, Eilidh M, Morgan, Mhairi, Annabel, Andrew, Guy, Adam W, Lewis and Connor, played a hockey tournament at Whitburn. They played five games and one all of them. They came back with the schools second hockey cup and were all very proud of themselves!

They then went [...]

P3/4 Homework - Apostrophes

We have been working on apostrophes in class over the last few weeks and this week your homework task is to play two apostrophe games on the BBC website. When you have done this, please post a comment letting me know how you got on. Please do this by Monday 15 June. [...]

Pencaitland Primary Football Does It Again

Last Friday there was a local derby, with Pencaitland hosting our near neighbours Ormiston. Things were looking bleak when Ormiston took a 2-0 half time lead. However Pencaitland came roaring back to snatch victory in the second half. It was almost like watching Barcelona !!!
Then on Monday we travelled away to play East Linton. [...]

Oh No Mr Cain’s Back !!

Miss Kay our student has gone but we’ve got Mr Cain back again. Monday was a great day. The best thing we did was probably the figure drawing for our folios. We got into partners and had to use our observation to draw each other. We had to use proportion to make sure all the [...]

Pencils R Us

Yesterday, Pencils R Us, the P3/4 stationery shop opened ‘its doors’ for the penultimate time this session. We have all had a lot of fun, taking on responsibility for stock control, selling, counting the money and crowd control (a very important role at busy times!)
With the profits made, we recently rewarded ourselves with a [...]

Watch out Tiger Woods!

P5 are enjoying their firstclub golf lessons. They have been launching, chipping and putting the ball and on Wednesday played their first round of seven holes! They helped design the course set out in the school playing field. It really was quite tricky with water hazards, bunkers and trees to negotiate.
What did some of the [...]

Oh, we do like to be beside the seaside

Today P3/4 and P4 spent a fun-packed day at the beach. First of all we went rock-pooling to Yellowcraig beach where we found a lot of sea creatures. We then had lunch on the beach in North Berwick and spent the afternoon in the Seabird Centre where we learned all about puffins.

Invertebrates Really Are Interesting!

On Friday Primary 4 lead the upper school assembly.

Molluscs
Insects
Crustaceans
Arachnids
Annelids

The class split into 5 groups to share with everyone else some [...]

There was a young poet from Pencaitland…..

There once was a big hairy sock
Who lived in a draw with a lock
One day he got out
And wandered about
But fell in love with a frock!
By Megan and Rosie
There once was a large ugly man.
Who lived in a green caravan.
He took it to France.
And went to a dance.
Where he made a new friend called [...]

Camp memories!

As you know P7 went to camp on the 26 April. We all had a wonderful time and loved all the activities. We made new friends, conquered our fears and shared lots of laughs.
We want to say a huge…
Thank You!!!
To all our parents and the school for making it possible for us to go. We’ll [...]

Gardening

P2/3 have made a start in the school garden. We weeded, added compost and then planted potatoes, radishes and nasturtiums. We also planted seeds indoors which will be transplanted later. Alex brought a lavender plant which will hopefully help to keep the cats out of our border!

Sharing Experiences

On Friday, P3/4 shared their Outdoor Journey experiences with the upper school. We also had a visit from a number of people from Edinburgh University who were interested in finding out what we had been up to.

Our Final Day

Well it was our final full day at camp today and we thought we had escaped the worst of the weather. However it was not to be and we had a steady downpour all day. But it didn’t dampen our spirits at all.  We have been crawling through mud (complete with mud warpaint), shooting each other [...]

The Great Egg Race 2009

Primaries 3/4, 4 and 7 have joined together for The Great Egg Race 2009!
Yesterday the 3 classes were split into 12 groups of 6, each with children from the 3 classes and given their challenges for the week.  They are to create a vehicle that can carry an egg over a 5 metre course as [...]
