Enterprise Month

November is enterprise month and we would like to encourage you to use your enterprise skills to participate in some Scottish themed challenges.

Challenge 1

Flower of Scotland is the current alternative anthem and your challenge is to choose a new one that you think would be good.

Write a comment in this blog detailing your choice and explain why you have chosen it.

The closing date is Friday 21 November. We will announce the winning anthem at the assembly.

Good Luck. Mrs Berry and Miss Lee :)

I love the song ‘Caledonia’ by Dougie Maclean. Frankie Miller does a great rendition of it and I have just listened to a performance by Paulo Nutini which is also very good. I used to listen to it when I lived in the States and it always - well nearly always - made me cry. It makes me think about all the beautiful things Scotland has to offer and makes me feel very proud to be Scottish.

I would choose ‘Alba’ by Runrig. It was recently sung for the launch of BBC Alba, and it was great to hear all our gaelic singers on TV. It would take a bit of learning, but it would really be our own anthem, and would be fantastic to hear people using gaelic again!

“Loch Lomand” by Runrig. It is a traditional Scottish song sung by a modern group who used to record in Pencaitland in the recording studio.

I like The Proclaimers song called “I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles)”. It is popular in Scotland and was a number 1 record. Also everytime the Scottish football team scores at Hampden Park, the song is played and sung along to by fans.
