P7 - Camp So Far

Day 1

Well we all arrived safely and in good spirits. After a filling and enjoyable lunch we met our activity group tutors and were shown around the camp site. To help with our orientation, our first activity involved us in different challenges at various locations around the camp. We earned tokens for each challenge successfully completed. The team with most tokens at the end of the event were the winners.

After dinner we split into activity groups and spent the evening outdoors doing different fun/problem-solving activities. Later we had classroom time where we told each other of our day. It was good to catch up with everyones news. Some of us got the chance to record our thoughts and you can read these below.

Today my activity group had to do a water activity. Most of us got soaking but it was still fun. The objective of the game was to get a cork up to the top of a tall tube. While doing that you needed to fill holes with your fingers. My first day has been really good and I’m looking forward to the next couple of days. By James

On the 1st day we got into our activity groups and I was in the Buzzards group. I had a good time today. By Abraham. We played Travellers & Pirates. I liked being a traveller best. I had to get to another island without being caught. I am having a good time. I’m looking forward to tomorrow. By Natara
Today my activity group met in the Hawk hut and we were introduced to each other. After tea we went back to the hut and we had a challenge to face. We had to protect a water balloon so when we dropped it from a height it wouldn’t burst. It was brilliant! It’s been good so far but we’ve not had to crawl through mud yet. Looking forward to tomorrow. By Gabby
Today my activity group did HUB. There is a HUB master and you were given a key ring which had a number on it and you went to the activity and if you completed it you got 3 HUB tokens. The group with the most tokens won. By Louise
I’m having a great time. Today we did HUB, pirates and travellers and class time where we talked about the day and then we played games. I played Mastermind with Louise and we had a fantastic time. Tomorrow we are doing the Mohawk walk. By Bethany.

Hello, I’m having a great time. The first thing we did was lunch. We had soup, and a baguette with a filling of your own choice and also got fruit and yogurt. After that we did a sort of game thing called Hub, where you had to win washers which were called Hub tokens. We had to get tokens by doing activities like, the human bridge, the turning tarpaulin, the knot in the tree, and the harness race. Then for tea we had either steak pie or chicken with roast potatoes followed by ice cream and fruit. By Ian
Day 2

Unfortunately the heavens opened this morning and everything is damp - apart from our spirits! Again our activity groups are all doing different things. Some of us were climbing trees, some of us were doing archery, and some of us were hiking across the hills. No matter how far we roamed the midges and the rain stayed with us! We have all been issued with stylish midge nets for our heads. Sadly too busy too record any more comments but we’re all having a great time, as you can see in the photos below. It’s easy to tell Day 1 from Day 2, it didn’t rain on Day 1 and made up for it on Day 2. Here’s hoping for better weather for the rest of the week.

Well done Mr Cain for blogging with no internet access! It looks like you’re all having a great time despite the midges. We look forward to seeing more pictures on Friday!

Miss Ross and I went up to camp last night (Tuesday). As soon as we stepped out of the car were were surrounded by a cloud of midges but we intrepidly soldiered on and met the children. Everyone looked happy and in good spirits despite the rain earlier in the day. We inspected the dormitories which were very neat and tidy, I think they saw us coming!
