The Cress Is Always Greener …

Lesson 10 : 29/05/07

Today we should have gone for a walk in the woods to look at flowers and learn about the structure of plants and flowers. However it was pouring with rain so we couldn`t go.  Instead we looked at the life cycle of a dandelion and got to grow some cress. Firstly in groups we discussed what we already knew about the life cycles of flowers and, when we came back together as a class again, we discovered we knew more than we thought.  We learned about germination, pollination and dispersal and completed a life cycle chart to record our learning.  To observe plants growing we then got to grow cress.  We each got a plastic cup and into this we put some damp cotton wool. Then we sprinkled on some cress seeds and covered the cup with a paper tissue until the seeds germinate. We will observe how the cress grows over the coming days and weeks.  You can see us working in the photos below:[bubbleshare 175640.ad4a169ccb7]
