Designing bicycles
How I made my bicycle![]()
The wire was hard to bend but when you wanted it back in line it was quite easy. The pipe cleaner was quite like the wire but it was more colourful.I hated the straw because you couldn’t bend it with out making a mess of it. The back round was quite easy to make.

These are great bicycles. You’ve worked very hard making those spokes!
What would need to be different about the metal used for a real bike’s wheels?
Would a mountain bike that was going to be used for bouncing down rocky tracks need special wheels?

To Lachlan, we were learning about bike safety on Tuesday with Mrs Anderson. We liked the sound of your bike could you bring it along to our class so we could have a look at it?

The metal would need to be thicker and stronger.
A mountain bike would need thicker tyres and good grip.
It would need good suspension.

Well done Lachlan! Yes, we would need thicker and stronger metal for a mountain bike.
They have to be able to put up with some strong forces.
It makes them very good for bumpy roads too because their wheels aren’t easily damaged!

I think the bicycle idea was graet.
