How many trophies have you won?
I started horse riding when I was 2 and won my first trophy when I was 8. I rode ponies and horses in competitions until I was 19 and won about 100 trophies.

What makes a better compettition horse a male or a female?
It can vary. Female horses tend to be less predictable. On a good day they are probably better but on a bad day are worse. For this reason many people prefer male horses as they know how they will behave.

What does it feel like to compete in front of loads of people?
I found that I was not nervous competing in front of loads of people. When you are competing there are so many things to think about that you do not have time to worry about people watching. I found that I rode better and the horse performed better if you are both relaxed. Horses are very good at knowing what mood you are in and do best when you are happy and relaxed.

How much experience do you have?
I rode ponies and horses from when I was 2 until I was 19 and competed at many levels of competition. I was in my pony club team for tetrathlon (running, swimming, shooting and running), showjumping, dressage and eventing and our pony club team qualified for the national championships (whole of the UK and Ireland) in all these competitions. I also completed in British Horse Society competitions, mostly in eventing, and did this up to an Intermediate level (which is the highest level of eventing that is done in Scotland). The biggest competition I did in eventing was the Blair Castle International 3 day event.

Have you ever fallen off a horse?
I have fallen off a lot of horses, some more often than others. Mostly this was an accident either by me or the horse.
One young horse I had used to try to throw me off though, and that was a bit more scary because I did not know when the horse was going to do it.How many trophies have you won?

The national pony club

Filed under: Emily — Kirsty Greenwood @ 2:21 pm

The pony club gives you oppoprtunities to take part in competetions and events. It will make you more confident on a horse. I would like to join the Pony Club because I would like to be a show jumper. I want to take part in games and win medals for my home country.
