The Nursery visit Butterfly World

This week saw the older group from the Nursery visit the Butterfly Farm near Dalkeith. This trip was very enjoyable as you can see in the photos. The children have been learning about butterflies in school.

Jo Jingles visits Ormiston Nursery

Jo Jingles visited Ormiston Nursery this week which was a great success. The nursery children took part in movement and games. This was for the younger group as a special end of session treat.

How we take learning forward in Ormiston

Primary Four visited the Nursery this week to see the tadpoles. Some of the children took photos of the displays about frogs and their lifecycle. A Visit from Crunchy the Crocodile

Josephine our dental health support worker brought Crunchy the crocodile into the nursery for a visit.  We all had a turn at brushing Crunchy’s teeth and Josephine read us a nice story.  We all received a lovely present of a new toothbrush and toothpaste.  Here are some photographs of the visit.

Nursery at Play

Look at what the Nursery pupils have been learning about. They have been trying out some Chinese customs for the Chinese New Year. Look how easy they make using chopsticks!

Nursery Interactive Whiteboard

The Nursery has finally received the much awaited white board and the staff are looking forward to using it with the children.
Take a look at some of the wonderful art work the children have been doing recently for their theme of winter. Definately some artists in the making.

Christmas dates/Nursery Parties

[ December 20, 2007; 9:30 am to 11:30 am. 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. ] This is just a reminder for all the activities happening this month you can see a list by clicking on this link.

One important date left out was the Nursery Parties on Thursday 20th of December. The morning group has their party from 9.30am till 11.30am and the afternoon group from 1.00pm till 3.00pm.

Autumn time in the Nursery

Sadly one of the magnificent Chestnut trees from the main street had to be taken down. However the council tree fellers very kindly used the trunk to make the nursery and school some seats which are out in the playground for the children to enjoy.

We have launched our toothbrushing initiative again with a visit from Josephine our Dental Health Support Worker.

Nursery - Harvest Time

In the nursery we have been following a harvest theme.We have a harvest display with combines, tractors,trailors etc and a DVD made by a member of staff showing how all these vehicles work while cutting a field. we provided a mortor and pestle so the children could try to grind wheat into flour.
