Eco News May 2008

Junkyard Angel

All children are getting the chance to design an outfit or fashion accessory made from recycled materials.  We have had some excellent ideas so far!  The week beginning the 2nd of June we will start to make these creations in school.  Children in P4 - P7 should try to bring in materials they might need to make their designs.    We are also looking for donations of magazines, newspapers, hats, buttons,T shirts and jackets that we could use to turn into some fabulous outfits!

There will be a Fashion Show on the 23rd of June where the children will be able to show off their work.

ASDA Green Vouchers

Thanks to Mrs McGravie we are now collecting the Asda Green Tokens for schools.  These will help us to aquire more things to help us to continue to become more Eco Friendly.  Please bring tokens into school.  There is a box outside Room 10.

TESCO tokens

Thank you to everyone who has handed in Tesco Tokens.  We have had enough so far, to purchase some great Gardening Tools.  Thank you to Mrs McGravie for organising this.  The school will continue to collect Tesco Tokens.

Gardening

Some children from P5 have joined the Gardening Club.  They have made already made a great job of tidying up the front garden.  Mr Sam Jess came along to help us.   Thank you Sam!  We purchased the Wormery through Mr Jess.  The Wormery has produced some suberb Worm Cast ( a very rich fertiliser produced by the worms) which we have used on the pots of flowers.  We aim to use more of it when we plant a few more vegetables.

Wildlife Garden

Mrs Keyte from the Nursery has kindly brought in some wood for the Wildlife Garden.  The bits of wood will provide excellent habitats for minibeasts.

What hard working worms we have in Ormiston! I’m sure the flowers will grow twice as tall now!
