EDUCATIONAL MAINTENANCE ALLOWANCES (EMA)
EMA’s have been available from August 2004, initially only for young people aged 16 or over, planning to continue their education in school. It is a weekly payment of up to £30.00 paid directly to pupils from low-income families who stay on after the end of their compulsory schooling.
