Religious and Moral Education

RELIGIOUS AND MORAL EDUCATION
Provision is made within the school curriculum for all pupils to be offered Religious and Moral Education according to national and local authority guidelines.

In line with the above guidelines it is not religious instruction in the sense of worship nor the practice of a particular set of beliefs associated with particular denominations or societies. Pupils are, however, encouraged to examine and develop beliefs by means of a consideration of world religions such as Christianity, Hinduism, Islam and Judaism and by examining how religious enquiry affects thinking and behaviour of individuals and society.

Our School Chaplains are Rev Neil Dougall, Mr Bill Nisbet, Mr Jay Lennartson, Rev Dr David Graham and Rev John Lindsay. On occasions they join with us to take morning Assembly. The School Chaplains are also available for pupils who may wish to consult them on a one-to-one basis. They operate very much on a ‘team basis’.

Parents who wish to exercise their right to withdraw their child from classes in religious and moral education and from religious observance should write to us, stating reasons.
