Question Time! June 2, 2008
Posted by smacniven in : Law Primary , 77commentsWell Primary 7 are in their last few weeks at primary school and many of them are asking questions and discussing issues of transition to the High school. If you post your questions, worries etc here, somebody at High school will answer them for you…
On Wednesday 11th June some First Years from North Berwick High School visited the P7s at Law Primary to answer some of our questions about going into S1. They were very informative and the P7s really enjoyed their visit.

Imaginary Stories February 14, 2008
Posted by smacniven in : Law Primary, Personal/Imaginative Writing , 33commentsWe have been writing imaginary stories in class. We chose a genre which interested us from the following titles:
The Magic Key
No Escape
Picked For the team
Beyond the Blackhole
We then looked at a really good story and decided what was successful about it. We came up with the following Success Criteria before we started.:
1.It must have a beginning, middle and end.
2. It is important to include an obstacle or a problem and to solve it.
3. Add lots of descriptions about setting and characters. Answering the important who, what, why, when where questions.
4. To make it really interesting you could include similes, metaphors, personification etc. and include feelings and thoughts.
5. Make sure your story is balanced , including speech and narrative (telling the story)
6. Vary your sentences.
( we always try to check our spelling, grammar and punctuation in all our writing)
Our teachers marked the beginning and middle and we self and peer assessed the endings.
Please read them and let us know what you think. Are they successful?

What a day. On Thursday 24th all P7 pupils (100) travelled to The Brunton Theatre in Musselburgh where they met with all the P7 pupils in the North Berwick Cluster for a very dynamic and sociable enterprise event. The pupils were put into groups, assisted by S3 pupils from the High School (who did a great job), they had to work as a team and come up with a company name and a logo. Then they were challenged to make various products with a Scottish theme in honour of Burns day.![]()
There was a definite competitive element as the company who made the most profit and the one who produced the best quality product won prizes. Everyone had a specific role in the company such as finance manager, buyer, seller, designer etc. Materials had to to be bought , products planned, designed and produced then sold…for a profit. Money was deposited in a bank and all within strict time limits within a real life setting.
Needless to say it was a resounding success and the pupils impressed everyone with their business like approach to the challenge and the high standard of products produced. Well done to you all!
P7 will explain in more detail below.
