The Finale Countdown

downhill.jpg

Not many postings for a few days, and not many postings for the next few to come, I’m guessing…

Everything’s screwing itself towards the end of its respective terms: dance shows, gym displays, sports days, project finales - deadlines abound, bedtimes have fragmented, and so have my nerves.

The kids are enjoying it, and I’m *trying* to appreciate the experience.

Wonder what it feels like for the teachers?

Generally as a teacher I find the downhill romp very enjoyable and exhausting. In the Borders, our local festivals feature in each of the last few weeks too, adding excitement and depleting energy further! Good weather makes all the difference to the atmosphere and so far it’s been great when it needed to be.
I do remember all too well that for individual children it’s a time when more tolerance may be required but less is sometimes available!

Oh yes - local festivals abound up here right now - forgot to mention those…

Watching the kids, it’s a bit like Christmas, but with sunshine instead of presents (a fair swap). Except with Christmas, I can buy all the presents well in advance and clear that part of my job list. With this lot, my hands are tied. So, for instance, today I have next to nothing which has to be done, but I’ve had to cancel two things on Friday, which has become seriously over-stuffed.

    I need a time machine…

I’d be very surprised if the teachers are getting anything coherent out of my Offspring - I know I’m not! And my Offspring are getting appreciably more sleep than some of the other kids in their classes. much of the school timetable seems to have caved in already - no homework for a week, library books and other reading work are disappearing. Understandable I guess, but it means that the kids have even less structure.

Thank you for your positive words, Dorothy - I shall try and focus on the ‘enjoyable’ and save the ‘exhausting’ for the frst week in July!
