Just checked the term dates sheet, and today is a day off school because it’s an Edinburgh holiday, not an in-service day.
So how come there are so many teachers posting to Edubuzz school blogs today?
Either:
- You’re a terribly committed bunch who can’t bear to be away from your jobs for even one extra day
- You don’t get enough time to do everything you need to in school hours and are using your home phonebill to do Council work. (As a teacher’s child, I know how much hard work may have to be done out of school, but don’t know much about whether time is allocated to allow teachers to do blogwork at school…)
Well, whichever it is, I hope that you’re happy with it, and I hope that your bosses are truly appreciative of the commitment you make. But I also hope you’re getting the time to do things for yourselves as well. I posted recently about about the ins and outs of holiday homework for my kids, and got a strong response from teachers, both on-site and off, that days off should be for relaxation and recreation.
So don’t work too hard now - and have fun!
