Mid Calder Primary has been raising funds to help refurbish the Primary Two block at Lukalu Umea Primary, Uganda. Primary 2, 4 and 7 all organised small enterprise initiatives and raised a total of £200. Also half of the money raised from the Christmas Concert was donated as well. Below you can see two photographs, one of the P2 block before refurbishment and one with some of the work undertaken. Well done to all the fundraisers.
This is an e-mail from the Head Teacher at Lukalu Umea Primary -
Once again thanks very much for the donations you gave us.
Tell the pupils of your school that our pupils are very happy for the life you have given us. Tell them that you have shown us what is rare to be done .
Let God reward you abundantly, where you got let God pay you more.
Best wishes,
Kalenzi Mubarack

Calling all parents and pupils! February 16, 2009
Posted by wgordon in : Curriculum for Excellence, P6 , 5commentsPrimary 6A have now been working on Stop Motion Animation from the start of this session and have completed eight animations. This first six were based on a free choice structure. The more recent ones are on chapters of the novel we have just completed with our partner school in Huriel, France. We plan to make a DVD to accompany the novel.
The children have worked in groups of six, two do the artwork for the backdrop, two work on the sound effects and two write the screenplay. The group then come together to produce the film.
This type of work has involved working through a great many challenges, e.g. how to get a ball into a basket for the basketball scene, how to make figures look like they are walking and how to make people look like they are going down a waterfall.
Please take the time to look at some of these animations and leave a comment. Just type animation into the search box in the top right to see the work so far.
