On Monday, 12th May four children from P6 represented West Lothian in Euro Quiz 2008. The four boys had won the West Lothian round beating some very tough competition.

The final took place in the debating chamber of the Scottish Parliament and twenty-five schools from across Scotland took part. It was a very exciting competition and Mid Calder put up a good fight. There were three rounds and we managed to come as high as third in round 2. Overall we finished fourteenth. The boys enjoyed a pizza and ice-cream at Pizza Italia on the Royal Mile before walking to the Parliament buildings and after the competition there was a reception for all of the children. The boys received a goody bag and will be presented with a certificate next Friday at assembly.

Well done Primary 6! The photographs look wonderful and the quiz setting very professional! It is a big achievement to get to the finals - Did you need to compete against other schools in West Lothian to reach the finals?

I work in East Lothian. The school that went forward to the Quiz from East Lothian was Pinkie St Peters - did you see them there?

Yes, we did compete with others to get to the finals. We went through three rounds, in which other schools were knocked out, but still competed, even though their scores did not count. We eventually reached the buzzer round where we beat St. Josephs Primary from Linlithgow.

Yes we did see Pinkie St. Peters. They competed very well too.

Thank you for commenting. From Ewan P6b.

Well done for competing so well. What a good explanation of how you managed to get to the finals Ewan! I think West Lothian can be very proud of you all!
