World Numeracy Day: Can you find and solve the puzzles around the school?
December 1st, 2008To help celebrate World Numeracy Day students at MGS have been asked to solve number puzzles around the school.
Every subject department has set a puzzle that help you fill in your number grid (issued at registration).
You will need the following information to find the number that should go in ‘box 18’. Good Luck.

February 1st, 2008Today at MGS we had a Wacky Hair Day to raise money for the Blythswood Charity Appeal. Well done to Katie in 1G1 who won the £10 HMV Voucher for the wackiest hair style! In total we managed to raise over £190 for charity! Well done to everyone involved.

S6 and Staff Rock Star Video
December 22nd, 2007Well that’s another term over at MGS. The last few days of term went really well and finished with the S6 show on Friday. This is an event that just goes from strength to strength. We will post some of the video, once it has been edited, on the MGS Events Page after the holidays. However, one of the highlights of the show was undoubtedly the S6 and Staff Rock Star Video. If you have not seen it yet you can watch it below.
Wishing all the readers of this site a Happy Christmas and great start to 2008. See you in the New Year.
2007 Staff and Student Pantomine - The Emperor’s New Clothes
December 19th, 2007This years Student and Staff Pantomime was a fantastic success and this well established event just seems to get better and better every year. This year’s performance was based on the Emperor’s New Clothes and as always the script was written by some of our S6 Students.
The pantomime is a real example of collaboration between pupils, staff and the wider community. On Wednesday afternoon all of the S1 pupils were taken out of class to watch the pantomime and there was also an evening performance for the local community.
Well done to Mrs Neill from the English Department for directing the performance. Here are a few photographs if you missed out on the act (sorry they are a bit blurry!).

Adidas trainer designer speaks to MGS Students (and he’s an ex-pupil!)
December 17th, 2007We always like to welcome back past students to Musselburgh Grammar School and last Friday was a very special day as we welcomed back Gregor McWee to the School CDT Department.
Since leaving school Gregor has secured a job at the adidas European Head office in Germany, where he has designed a number of pairs of trainers. During his three hour workshop (for 40+ students) Gregor emphasised that all of his graphic skills and technical drawing skills where learnt while he was at MGS and this stood him in good stead for his progression through college to his current post.
During his workshop he showed students (and staff) how to use a graphics tablet for design and gave an impressive demonstration of the use spirit markers. He also then led an innovative workshop on trainer design for the assembled audience.
All of the feedback from the session has been extremely positive and Gregor even gave away some free adidas products that haven’t even been released in the UK yet!
We hope to welcome Gregor back next year? And more pictures of the work that pupils produced during the workshop will be appearing on the CDT home page soon.
