We always like to welcome back past students to Musselburgh Grammar School and last Friday was a very special day as we welcomed back Gregor McWee to the School CDT Department.
Since leaving school Gregor has secured a job at the adidas European Head office in Germany, where he has designed a number of pairs of trainers. During his three hour workshop (for 40+ students) Gregor emphasised that all of his graphic skills and technical drawing skills where learnt while he was at MGS and this stood him in good stead for his progression through college to his current post.
During his workshop he showed students (and staff) how to use a graphics tablet for design and gave an impressive demonstration of the use spirit markers. He also then led an innovative workshop on trainer design for the assembled audience.
All of the feedback from the session has been extremely positive and Gregor even gave away some free adidas products that haven’t even been released in the UK yet!
We hope to welcome Gregor back next year? And more pictures of the work that pupils produced during the workshop will be appearing on the CDT home page soon.
