This year the school started the Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award as an extra curricular activity for S3/S4 students. Last Wednesday we had our first Duke of Edinburgh Award Presentation Evening to acknowledge the success of a group of students – full Bronze awards went to Debbie Cain, Deborah Calder, Emma Coull, Kirsten Coyle, Mhairi Dalglish, Andrew Davison, Gemma Donnelly, Rachel Duff, Claire Edwardson, Julia Ferguson, Laura Gibson, Marie Joyce, Gillian Lamb, Jamie Loggie, Kirsty Miller, Clare Morris, Suzie Mwanza, Siobhan Rawlins and Julie Twivey.
A further group of pupils were awarded section certificates and participation certificates to acknowledge their progress towards the full award – Carly Bathgate, Emma Forbes, Fay Neilands, Callum Stewart, Steven Walton, Gemma Baxter, Kirsten Capaldi, Laura Hendry, Stacey McKenzie, Gemma Porteous, and Jemma Sellar.
The students took responsibility for every aspect of the evening and gave some confident presentations to the assembled audience of close to 100 parents and other students. The event also allowed us to use our big screen in the Hall for the first time to display photographs taken over the year. A big thanks mush also go to Mrs Dalglish making all the cakes – particularly the cake in the shape of a tent!
Here are some of the photographs from the evening:

A tent cake! That must be a first for any DofE presentation.
It was good to meet some of you at East Linton while on your expeditions.
I hear some of you may be going on to Silver, so best of luck with all the bits of the award, and may all your expeditions be good ones.
