P1 and Miss Hart want to say a huge thank you to all the grandparents who kindly gave up their time to join us in school to tell us tales of life long ago. We enjoyed all the stories and had great fun learning about the games you used to play. This is what makes our learning meaningful and fun!

Congratulations to all the members of the house, Charteris who won the Inter House Shield at Sports Day this week. Everyone will agree that the two days of sports were excellent, with all the children showing great sportsmanship! Well done to all the House Captains who have led each of the houses this year. Maybe next year it will be Douglas or Wemyss…

Some of our P7 pupils did us all proud by winning every game of their Tag Rugby Festival at Murrayfield on Saturday ! The boys and girls had a fantastic day in the sunshine playing rugby and watching Scotland play in the main stadium. A huge thanks to the parent volunteers who made this possible.

It was a jam packed fun filled Thursday for our cluster and our twinned Italian schools. The day started with a two hour session with the ranger observing our great coastline and what is being done to conserve it and the wildlife surrounding it. This was then followed with a visit to the birthplace of John Muir with an opportunity to explore his birthplace. on our return to Innerwick Outdoor Education Centre we were joined by children and staff from the Prestonpans cluster schools for a delicious fish and chip tea. It was then time to burn off some energy in the garden by learning an Italian game of ‘tig’ and a game of ‘ladders’ before heading to the Cove where we worked in mixed teams as artists, commissioned to create a masterpiece using found materials on the beach. It was wonderful to see that language was not a barrier for our Scotttish and Italian children. Well done everyone and a big thank you to all who were involved.

There was a lot of excitement in school today as we welcomed the children and staff from our twinned school, Barga Primaria, Italy. Having arrived at Innerwick Outdoor Centre late on Tuesday night with other children from their Italian cluster schools they are going to have a very busy 4 days. This morning we held an assembly where they stood up in front of the whole school and introduced themselves and presented the school with beautiful paintings of Barga painted by the children from Barga. After assembly they joined P5/6 for an interactive maths game of probability and took part in learning the ‘full swing’ shot in clubgolf. It was then a tour of the school before playtime where all the children joined in for a game of tig and the boys shared their great football skills. Time flew by and they left to visit our other cluster schools. We are really looking forward to the next few days of their visit and we will keep you updated with pictures.

Over the last 3 weeks P5R have been having clubgolf training sessions in school where they have been learning the three basic shots - putting, chipping and full launch. On Wednesday 13th May Kate Green, Golf development officer in East Lothian set up a 7 hole golf course for the children where they had the opportunity to use all these shots in a game of clubgolf. There were some super shots and definitely some golfers in the making!
