P6 have been learning how to say the days of the week in French. Voici les élèves de Dirleton qui chantent notre chanson. Ils se sont bien amusés!

Euro Quiz - bravo aux gagnants!

We had a Euro Quiz at North Berwick High School. Law Primary entered 16 pupils. We decided on these pupils by doing a small quiz about Europe which was out of 20. When we went over we joined some other schools from East Lothian - Dirleton, Athelstaneford, Gullane, Aberlady. We got asked a couple of questions about France, one of the questions was what city and country the Eiffel Tower was in. Thank you to the 6th years for the pizza and all the food. IT WAS GREAT FUN!!!!!

Euro Quiz - on s’entraîne!

We are in training for a quiz we are doing with NBHS and we are going to get all the questions on France right! Here is a good website to find out lots about France and remember there are some sites to help us in “useful websites” too (under L’Hexagone which is another word for France - can you work out why it might be called that?). You could try this quiz as well.

La fête d’Halloween

Pour s’amuser - some games to play etc

Halloween has old Celtic origins - the 31st October was the end of the old year and the 1st of November the beginning of the new one. French children started to celebrate Halloween recently too but it is not as popular as in this country. We will have to find out if they dress up and go out guising like we do!

On the 1st November it is Toussaint which is the day when the French celebrate all the saints and on the 2nd of November it is “La fête des morts” which is when many French families go to the cemeteries to tend the graves of their loved ones and to lay flowers (often chrysanthenums).

Do you know how to plant cabbages? Bonne question! Can you hear all the parts of the body used to plant them? 7C at Law sang this French song to send to their link school in Champigneulles. They have also given descriptions of themselves. Vous avez compris? Et vous, vous êtes comment?

Un air d’accordéon

We are lucky to have a former pupil who plays the accordion. He has very kindly played ”Sous les ponts de Paris” (Under the bridges of Paris) for us. Merci beaucoup Owain - tu joues super bien!
