Le 65e anniversaire du Débarquement - le 6 juin June 3, 2009
Posted by jswan in : La France , add a commentWe are hearing a lot about France again this week. It is the 65th anniversary commemorations of the Normandy Landings this weekend. Normandy is on the north-west coast of France and the S3 pupils from the High School are just back from a shared History/French trip to this region. They were visiting some of the sites we see in this video and also visited a market in Bayeux. What is Bayeux famous for do you know? What else can you find out about this region? Demandez à vos frères et soeurs!
Tournois de pétanque 2009 May 22, 2009
Posted by jswan in : La France, La santé , 3commentsIl y a du soleil? Il fait beau? Jouons à la pétanque! Tu tires ou tu pointes? It is Health Week at Athelstaneford so they were getting active with this traditional French game. They found out some of the rules of pétanque (les règles) et ..il y en a plein! The “boule” nearest to the “cochonnet” holds the point (mène le jeu) and the other team continues to throw until they place a “boule” closer. The team with the closest “boule” then scores a point for every “boule” that is closer than the other team’s. We took it just as seriously as the French .. et oui.. on les a mesurées!! (Il est défendu de faire des mesures avec les pieds!) Pour non-observation des règles .. disqualification!

Le héros de la guitare! May 12, 2009
Posted by jswan in : French songs , add a commentP7 classes are all busy learning with Guitar Hero this term. They love this game in France too. Tu joues de la batterie, de la guitare, tu prends le micro? Why not do a gig in Bercy in Paris? Have you named your band? How about “Les Pingouins Sauvages?” (The Wild Penguins) Here is a song “Ça plane pour moi” which was actually played in our country too (il y a beaucoup d’années …demande à maman et à papa!)

Voici une chanson pour nous! “Mange équilibré! C’est vraiment bon pour ta santé!” Eat a balanced diet! It’s good for your health! (mange-equilibre1)
