2. darrens mum - June 5, 2008

darren and i had a long talk about the safety on the internet especially web sites like bebo us as parents let our kids go on bebo so we should take the time to make sure they are careful on what they do and what websites they go on as it is easy to go on to websites they are not sure of!

3. Gary 7D - June 5, 2008

I spoke to mum about bebo and as long as I am aware of the dangers of using bebo and I Just add my friends and not any strangers. I have now made my profile private. And I learned that there is 40 million people use bebo and some of them use it ininappropriately.

4. Eilidh 7d - June 5, 2008

I told my mum about Pc Gunn coming in to talk to us today, i have made sure my bebo is privite and i dont accept anyone who i dont know !! I was really surprised that over 40,000000 people use bebo and lots of people use other social network sites !! I will make sure i stay safe on bebo and msn !!

Thank you Pc Gunn !!

5. Gary's Mum - June 5, 2008

We’ve had a chat about the safety issues of using the internet, I think the imformation given out made them aware of the dangers of speaking to strangers, I do think they will all be more careful in future.

6. Finn 7D - June 5, 2008

After the talk today I am very aware of what can happen on sites such as bebo, facebook and MSN. I have bebo but I only add my friends and I don’t bother looking at the sites of people who I don’t know. I am aware of the consequences that can happen if your bebo site is not private.

7. Finn's Mum (Alison) - June 5, 2008

Finn spoke to me about the visit from PC Gunn today and although he was always aware of some of the dangers involved in using the internet, this has reinforced the message that is not always listened to when made by parents. He said that a lot of what was brought to his attention freaked him out and will make him more aware and much more cautious in his use of the internet.

8. Eilidh's Mum and Dad - June 5, 2008

Mum- Although my daughter clearly enjoys spending time on bebo and msn I limit her time online. I am concerned that she is at risk as people unknown to her can gain acess to her information. She was only recently given permission to put her photo on her page we are still very uncomfortable with this.

Dad-
I dont mind Eilidh using bebo and msn as long as I get to see what she is using it for and that I can see that she is using it appropriately and safely.

9. Imogen 7d - June 5, 2008

I told my mum about p.c Gunn coming in today, I have made sure my bebo is private, and I never accept people I dont know, After the talk PC Gunn spoke to us today I am very aware that the internet can be very unsafe when there are online preditors in the world that can be very dangerous!

Mum and Dad

Aslong as Imogen is using MSN and bebo safley and dosen’t put pesonal information on anything and dosen’t leave comments on people’s profiles that would offend or upset someone, then we are happy with her using them.

10. Kieran Floyd 7D - June 5, 2008

After todays talk I have now learnt to use Bebo and Facebook more safely and put my profile private. I will never put on any of my personal info on. I have now heard about these online predators. Who feed on other people and try to be your friend. but dont get too close. they are faking that they are 14 when maybe they are 144.

11. Tims mum - June 5, 2008

tim has told me about the visit although we were already aware of the dangers of bebo and when he had it we made sure that his profile was completely private. On the other hand we think it was a great idea to have pc david gunn to come in.

12. Andrew 7d - June 5, 2008

I really enjoyed the visit from PC Gunn and i learned a lot about safety on the internet. I will be more careful when i am using my computer.

13. Andrews mum - June 5, 2008

Glad that the school arranged for PC Gunn to talk to the P7 classes and make them more aware of the dangers of using the internet.

14. Megan 7D - June 5, 2008

I learned alot from PC Gunn. The main thing I learned was that the police can trace anything you write on the internet back to your computer. I don’t have bebo and if I did I would make it private. I think it is kind of scary that people can see everything about you quite easily. I use youtube alot but do not have an account and have thought more about what I watch. Thankyou PC Gunn for coming in and talking to us!

15. Megan 7D - June 5, 2008

Megan has friends at home and around the country and communicates by phone, text, email and in person. She doesn’t, and won’t, have a bebo page, and doesn’t seem at all bothered about this. She doesn’t feel like she’s missing out on anything. The talk by PC Gunn has been useful to help us think about how Megan might use the internet in future. Megan found it interesting and it’s given us some useful things to talk about over dinner.

16. Holly xx P7D - June 5, 2008

I spoke to my mum about the talk today and she says that it is ok that i use websites like bebo as long as it is private and i am using it safely. My bebo siite has always been private and after the talk i am so glad that it is! I learnt today that people can hack into anything even if it is private. I am always on youtube and have thought of making an account but after the talk i am glad i didnt. I found the talk so interesting and I am going to be more careful.
Thankyou PC Gunn!

17. Callums - June 5, 2008

Dad:
I have disscussed the internet with Callum and all the dangers associated with it. He is aware that although the Internet is great for education and research, it does contain many dangers.

He clearly enjoyed the visit by PC Gunn and learnt a lot.

Callum:
I agree with my dad.

18. Anya 7D X - June 5, 2008

I learnt a lot from what PC Gunn taught us today. I didn’t know that using sites like bebo, MSN or face book could be so dangerous. I don’t have a bebo account but if I did I would make it private. I watch videos on you tube but don’t have an account.

Thanks PC Gunn for comung in and talking to us today!

19. Josie 7c - June 5, 2008

I think it’s really important that anybody that has bebo or MSN should be careful. There is 40 million people out there that could be watching your profile, and that’s just the people that are registered! I am also very pleased that the school got PC Gunn to come in and talk to us because I didn’t know just quite how easy it is to get someone’s details.I definitely think that you shouldn’t have pictures on there.

I think the safest thing to do is not to have a profile at all, I don’t have bebo and I don’t mind! We’re not even supposed to have it till we’re 13 anyway!

20. Anya's Dad - June 5, 2008

It’s great that the kids are getting to learn about all the good and the bad linked to sites like bebo, MSN and facebook. The messages regarding the dangers are very important and need to be remembered every time they log on. Passwords, private accounts and supervision are always a good idea. Its good to know the kids understand all the dangers on the internet and the lesson from PC Gunn was understood.

Anya: sorry in the comment above I was meant to say coming not comung!

21. Josie's mum 7c - June 5, 2008

I am very pleased PC Gunn came to talk to the children today about the dangers of using internet chat sites and cyber bullying. Josie’s brothers use MSN and Face book but they are 16 and 18. We are aware of the dangers of using these sites and so is Josie, although she does not have a Bebo or MSN account. It is great that the school are being so responsible discussing such issues and making the children aware of the dangers that exist. The internet is a fantastic resource to have but its a bit sad that children today would rather have virtual relationships instead of going out to play.

22. katie watson7Dxx - June 5, 2008

I told my mum and dad about the dangers of using the computer and about PC Gunns talk. I learned that the police can trace your computer and check about anything inappropriate you do on the internet on your computer. 40 million people use bebo and some are at risk so it is important to be really careful.

23. amy P7C - June 5, 2008

I had a talk with Mum about the dangers of using chat rooms, cyber bullying and going on unknown websites.I never knew that so many people used these chat rooms (40 million) or that it was possible for people to hack in even if it was private. If I ever get BEBO or MSN when I am older I will be careful not to post personal details and just talk to people I know. I will never give anyone my password either.

24. Finlay 7D (Finlay's mum) - June 5, 2008

Finlay:

I didn’t realise that the internet was so dangerous - I just thought it was a bit of banter and fun. 2 things that I didn’t know about internet safety was that cyber bullying is illegal and I also didn’t know that it is possible to copy your pictures then for someone else to copy them, then for their friend to copy them until it gets half way around the word and someone is pretending to be you and you get in a lot of trouble. I didn’t know that 40 million people used bebo and 4 out of 25 people will meet up with a stranger. I will now be alert with bebo and I will take it more seriously.

Thank you, PC Gunn, for your talk.

Finlay’s mum: Finlay has talked very enthusiatically about PC Gunn’s talk and has taken on board the content. I am very grateful to the school for organising for a presentation of this nature as it reiterates much of what we have already told Finlay but it has undoubtedly increased his understanding of the subject.

25. amy 's mum - June 5, 2008

Dinosaur that I am , I am really pleased that the children are getting professional guidance on the safe use of the internet. My policy to date has been avoidance of chat rooms, but I recognise they are going to be part of the childrens’ lives. I’m looking forward to the parent’s evening ….hope I learn as much as Amy!

26. Ethan 7c - June 5, 2008

I took all of PC Gunn’s stuff on board. I am now gonna be alot more careful when I go on the internet now. I never knew how much risk i was at on bebo, and thats why I have deleted and I will only create a new profile when I am 13. Thank you PC Gunn!

27. Henry's Dad - June 5, 2008

Henry told me in great detail all about PC Gunn’s visit. He has taken in a lot and is now aware of the issues and risks of disclosing personal details when on the internet. Thanks to the school and PC Gunn for delivering this valuable session

28. Bruce Scott 7C - June 5, 2008

A very interesting talk from PC Gunn. I am now going to be a lot more careful when I use the INTERNET since over 40,000,000 people use BEBO. There could be anyone out there!.

29. Gareth 7C and Dad - June 5, 2008

I told my dad about PC Gunn’s visit and he is aware of the dangers. My dad is Perfictly aware of what i get up to on computers.

Good to know that Gareth is now aware of the things to look out for in Bebo and what to avoid. As the only computer he can get on at home is in the family room, he can let us know of any problems and we can keep an eye on him too. Anyway we trust him not to be stupid, so no problems!.

30. Kieran's Dad - June 5, 2008

It is important for the kids to understand the risks and the type of people who use these mediums in order to prey on vulnerable children. Parents need to be aware to prevent exposure to these people and reduce risk of interaction. We prefer Kieran to interact face to face and discourage the use of thes sites as we have found very little positives and many negatives.

31. Lucy 7D - June 5, 2008

I really enjoyed PC Gunn’s visit and I learnt a lot.
I was so shocked that 40 million people have bebo and they can see your profile and I do not accept anyone I do not know.

I only accept my friends on msn as well but it is scary how they do it!

Thank you PC Gunn!

This is Lucy’s mum:
I am pleased PC Gunn visited and has reinforced my own reservations which I had expressed to Lucy - this can only increase their level of awarenesss of the dangers involved. Many thanks.

32. Ethan's mum - June 5, 2008

It’s good to draw attention to the cons associated with the internet but its also important to maintain a balanced perspective and remember that the internet is a great tool for education and entertainment too.

33. Jessie 7C & her mum - June 6, 2008

Hey this is jessie
I enjoyed PC guns visit and i was shocked that even if you bebo profile is private some people can hack into it still.

Hi this is jessies mum
I am pleased that PC Gunn has visited school to talk to the children about how to use the internet safely, particularly sites like bebo and MSN. Internet technology is something that will be a major part of our childrens lives and if they understand the down side of its use now this can only be of benefit in the future. I do worry sometimes that children spend too much time talking to each other in cyberspace when they could be meeting at the playground. Social interaction is one of the best ways to learn how to evaluate the people around us.

ByeBye
Jessie xx

34. Harriet & Mum - June 6, 2008

Hi this is Harriet
I think that is best not to have bebo because it is more dangerous than safe.PC Gunn’s talk really made me think about how dangerous it can be.

Mum —

35. Catriona P7B - June 8, 2008

When I went on to bebo after the safety talk, we had with PC Gunn, I thought about everything that could go wrong or what I could do to prevent anything bad happening to me or my computer.I decided to delete an album of photos. I think that was the right thing to do but I still have bebo and still chat to friends (not anyone I don’t know).

36. Joanna 7A x - June 9, 2008

I thought P.C Gunn made a fair point about having bebo at the age of 13. But I thought it was really good and we will be alot safer on the computer. I use bebo but I am really safe with it now.

37. Elizabeth -7a - June 9, 2008

On Thursday PC Gunn came in to talk to the p7’s about internet safety. He told us about the dangers of having your personal details on Bebo,MSN,Facebook and other social networking sites.
It was a really intresting talk and it made me think about how dangerous the internet can be.

38. Eva p7a - June 9, 2008

On the 5th of June P.C Gunn came in to talk about Internet safety.
He talked about having bebo, msn, facebook,my space ect.
Everyone who had Bebo was called a liar because you are suposed to be 13 to have bebo and we had all faked our age.
I use bebo and i think that you should have a limited amount of friends so you can keep track on who your talking to.

39. Julia F - June 9, 2008

On the 5th of June, we all got a talk about Internet Safety from P.C Gunn. He explained all the dangers about bebo and putting your real name, address on your profile. I recently started bebo and have agreed with lots of others that you should only let your friends be people you know.

40. Chris P7A - June 9, 2008

PC Gunn came into school and talked to us about internet safety, he told us about BEBO and MSN and told us what we should do to keep ourselves safe . I learnt alot and will be keeping my sites private when I use them. My mum is going to the meeting at the High school as she says she has to learn more about it as well.

41. Andrew D 7A - June 9, 2008

I learnt a lot about internet safety but I still dont go on Bebo or anything like and never give away personal details. My mum thinks that it is excellent that P.C Gunn came in to give this talk. She hopes I learnt how stay safe on the internet.

42. greg 7A - June 9, 2008

I really enjoyed PC Gunn’s visit, and I learnt lots about being safe on the internet. I don’t use social networking sites like bebo, and I never give away personal details. my parents usually know what I do on the internet and I know what to do if something stupid comes up.

43. Ben7A - June 9, 2008

P.C Guns talk on intenet safety was very interesting and i didnt know 40 million people use bebo.I dont use bebo or any other social networking sites and I dont give any personal details out either.

44. Rory 7a - June 12, 2008

I really enjoyed P.C. Gunn’s talk on Internet safety.40 million people have Bebo so if you don’t have it private anyone can look at your it.I am now completley aware about the dangers of social networking sites like Bebo MSN Myspace and Facebook.

45. Alex 7a - June 12, 2008

P.C. Gunn taught us loads about internet safety. Including don’t make your bebo profile public. The talk has really helped and i enjoyed it.

46. Cammy7A - June 13, 2008

I really enjoyed P.C Gunn’s talk on internet safety and when I got home I changed my bebo name so no-one could recognise me.

47. Neil W 7A - June 13, 2008

I talked to my mum about it and we both think there should be a lot more talked about but I think its a brilliant resource if you use it properly. I think that bebo is ok as long as you use it properly and dont accept people you dont know and you have your profile private.
