1. Neil W P7A - April 14, 2008

One of my memories was on the first day when I had sailing and it was extremely cold with snow and ice on the ground and I came out with my clothes on. Everything on my upper half was fine but on my lower half I only had my swimming shorts on! So remember for next year P6’s- make sure you are wearing the right clothes It really paid off in the end!

2. Fraser 7A - April 14, 2008

P6 tip : Make sure that you pick a bike that works when mountain biking and most importantly make sure that the brakes work or you have a nasty crash and that is no joke but the thing I will remember the most is having a massive crash with someone and then getting the name breaky as basically nothing worked on my bike. The other thing that I will remember was seeing the osprey’s flying in the sky.

3. *Julia F* 7a - April 14, 2008

Loch Insh was an exciting experience! My two favourite memories were of Dancing at the disco (everyone was jumping up and down so much the floor shook!) and when we were on the ski slope and when we were allowed to ski from the top!
My tips to P6 would be;
Don’t drink all your water in the morning because you will be thirsty in the afternoon and bring a camera so you can take pictures of the area. Overall it was an amazing experience!

4. Greg 7A - April 14, 2008

I had a great time at Loch Insh, and I was exhausted when I came home. All the activities were really fun and I learnt lots about sailing, canoeing, archery and wayfinding. I was sharing a room with 5 of my friends in the penthouse. it was really fun, it was like a 3-day sleepover! in biking we had to cycle through a huge puddle which was really deep. Max was half way across when he fell in! When you go, take lots of warm and waterproof clothes!

5. Riccardo P7A - April 14, 2008

Hi everyone, We are all back from an exhausting week at Loch Insh.
We did lots of activities such as biking, skiing, Canadian canoeing, way finding, walking, sailing and kayaking we also had a BBQ and a disco. I also hope the primary 6’s are looking forward to Loch Insh when they go next year. PS remember to bring loads and loads of sweets!!!

6. Andrew D 7A - April 14, 2008

I remember the first day when me and my group went canadian canoeing it was so fun but cold and soaking wet if you wern’t wearing the right clothes and remember if your not feeling well tell someone and don’t do the activty.

7. Elizabeth* p7a - April 14, 2008

Hi everyone. We are back. I had a great time at Loch Insh and I’m sure everyone else did too. We did mountain biking, skiing, walking, archery ,canadian canoeing ,kayaking, sailing, wayfinding BBQ and a disco and all that in just 3 days!
I shared a room with Iona,Tanya,Shannon,Ciara and Eva. I didn’t have a favourite activity because I enjoyed them all. One of my highlights was when I was sailing the men in the speed boats went really fast and made such big waves that my boat almost capssised!!
My tip for the p6’s is to eat the food you get because otherwise you will be hungry all day.

8. Hamish A - April 14, 2008

I had a superb time at Loch Insh, hope everyone did as much as me.
All the activities were great , I espeically like the biking, unfortunatly our group did not get to through the massive puddle as it was too deep. Another thing that I will remember is when Mr walker capsized about 7 or 8 times at the kayaking, it was really funny!!!
My tip for P6 is get a hot drink they are really nice☺

9. Annie* 7a - April 14, 2008

Hi,I really liked Loch Insh and ski-ing was AMAZING and so was sailing.
Here is a tip for p6 make sure that you wear your gloves for all the activities (except archery) because your hands will FREEZE like an ice-cube . I hope everyone enjoyed it and thank you to the teachers for taking us and looking after us.

10. Ben7A - April 14, 2008

Loch Insh was great fun and the best activity for me was definitely ski-ing because it was my first time ski-ing and it was really fun.I also liked biking because we got very muddy and we went down some really steep hils and through a stream.A tip for the P6s going next year is to bring lots of warm cloths and waterproofs

11. Alex 7a - April 14, 2008

I really enjoyed Loch Insh
Archery was the best activity I thought. For the p6’s they shuold bring loads of GLOVES AND HATS and try to get some waterproof gloves if they can. Wayfinding was very confusing and Max fell in a bog in mountain biking.

12. Cammy7A - April 14, 2008

I loved Loch Insh. It was fun, wet and very tyring. I shared a room with Alex, Joe, Ben and Max. It was a shame that we had to go home on friday but I’m definetly going to go back with my family. My first activity was sailing in the rain it was so cold and my friend who I shared a boat withdidn’t have waterproof trousers. he was frozen. A tip for P6 pay alot of attention when packing or you will NOT be able to pack it again and if you can’t fold clothes you really should learn!

I really enjoyed Loch insh it was the best we did lots of sports like Skiing, Biking, Walking, Sailing, Archery, Kayaking, Canoeing, Way Finding and Games. it was the best. There was really fun instructers they were so cool. I shared a room with Joanna, Holly, Imogen and Eilidh.

20. Maurice 7a - April 14, 2008

I really, really enjoyed Loch Insh. All of the activities were fun i was not very good at skiing.I was falling over all the time it was fun though.Kayaking was so much fun.I really enjoyed Canoeing ,Archery ,Hill walking,Games and lots more. The scenery was very nice. One day it was snowing, one day it was raining, another it was sunny the rest of the time it was mild.I shared the penthouse with Greg,Bruce.s,Chris.r, Andrew.d,Finlay.p. P6 tip:Even if you are not hungry at the time you will be hungry later.

21. Megan 7D - April 15, 2008

My favourite thing at Loch Insh was orienteering because me and Jessica Thompson won the competition. I also enjoyed the sailing, canoeing and kayaking because I had never done any water sports before.
I had never slept in a room of over 5 people before and I never want to again! Archery was another thing I had not done before and I would like to do it again.
My hints and tips for P6 would be eat all your meals even if you don’t like them, get a good nights sleep and bring lots of spare clothes.
I got homesick on the first night because I had no one to talk to in my room, but I was fine after that. I made loads of new friends at Loch Insh and It was really good fun!

22. Eilidh 7d - April 15, 2008

When I was at Loch Insh I learned how to do Canadian Canoeing and Kayaking, which I have never done before!

One of my highlights would have to be when one of the instructors (Neil) taught me how to get a bulls eye at archery because before that a was missing the board! Another highlight would have to be at the disco because my friends and me where all dancing in the middle of the dance floor with everybody else dancing around us! But my main highlight was just being able to go to loch insh and to do every thing that I did!

Tips that I would give to next years primary 7’s would be to bring something to do on the bus so you don’t get bored, Always turn up to your activities on time so you don’t miss anything, bring sweets for the bus and bring lots of water proofs!

I wasn’t home sick because I am away from home quite a lot but I know a few people that were!

Altogether I had a great time!

23. Anya 7D - April 15, 2008

My highlight of Loch Insh was the skiing.I had never done it before and I am quite pleased with my self because I went off the jump!!! I liked the skiing the best because it was really fun and fast. We also did the limbo while we where skiing down the slope! I had never done the Canadian canoeing either and that was really fun as well. Another one of my highlights was the mountain biking its great ….. if its nice weather! I am surprised I wasn’t homesick but all the activities keep you really busy so you don’t have time to think of home. My advice for P6 is bring lots of water-proof trousers because you get absolutely soaked!!! And bring loads of sweets for midnight feasts!!!

24. Finn D - April 15, 2008

15:04:08 Finn D

My highlights at Loch Insh were all the fun we had in our room, I was in a room of 4 it was quite cramped so we didn’t have much room to put our bags, but we had TV so it wasn’t that bad. And all the times I got soaked in the sailing boat. I have never done archery before, it was hard learning all the things you had to know but once you learned all that it was great. I had also never gone on a long walk that was fun because you got to know the instructors. I would advise the P6’s to take 3 or 4 waterproof jackets and 3 or 4 waterproof trousers and take lots of SWEATS!!!

25. Imogen Greenan 7D - April 15, 2008

Loch Insh
15.4.08

Loch Insh was really fab I didn’t get homesick atoll. We did all sorts of activities like skiing, archery, sailing, walking, kayaking, canoeing, way finding and biking. I found skiing, kayaking and canoeing hard because I had never done them before! But I soon got the hang of them! Archery was fun because I got quite good scores. And in skiing I kept on falling over so Bruce (the instructor) had to ski around the slope picking everyone up! I most enjoyed kayaking because I got the hang of it quickly and it was fun. Some hints for P6 would be to bring lots of waterproofs and extra clothing because you get really wet! And maybe bring some treats for later!

26. Lucy 7D - April 15, 2008

15.4.08

I really enjoyed Loch Insh but my highlights were sleeping in a room with my friends, doing activities I have never done before and I got the highest mark in my group by about 15 at archery. I had never done skiing, archery, kayaking (freezing), canoeing, sailing which was very cold and more. I advise the P6’s to bring layers of clothing, eat a big breakfast and have fun! I got a bit homesick but overall it was great.

Loch Insh

Loch Insh was all good but a few highlights were biking because we got really wet and muddy and it was a good way to start camp. Also I really enjoyed the orienteering because I was with a good partner and we found lots of points. My final highlight was skiing and even thought we didn’t go to the top I still enjoyed it. At loch Insh I did some things I have never done before like kayaking and canoeing another thing I have never done is sleep in a room with three other people. If there were any tips I would give they would be take more then one pair of waterproofs, take a one use camera because it is beautiful and take at least 1 pair of waterproof gloves

28. Katie Watson 7D - April 15, 2008

15.4.08 Loch Insh

I loved doing the water sports especially canoeing and sailing because in canoeing we went all the way round the whole of the loch and in sailing we played a game sadly my team didn’t win. Kayaking got me very wet and it was tiring. I was happy who were in my room and activity group the hawks. I have never done skiing before so it was quite tricky and slippy but I got the hang of it. My advice for the next P7’s is to take a lot of warm and waterproof clothes it’s cold but fun. On the 2nd last day you have a BBQ and disco I felt I could bogie all night. I was quite good at archery I popped 4 blooms. On the last day I felt a bit home sick but I was busy doing activities so I tried not thinking about home.

39. jack k 7c - April 15, 2008

I loved loch Insh!!!
I thought it was amazing and so fun.
I liked skiing because it was the first time I had done it, I kept falling over but got back up and did it again. When kayaking I capsized because the boat kept turning and was pretty unstable so I had to swim for shore. I still thought it was really fun. I also crashed at biking because I thought I was going off the edge so I braked and I went flying off my bike, that was a bit sore but still fun.

p.s The bruses will go but the memories remain

(advice for p6) Dont let anyone else in your room

40. Nathan 7c - April 16, 2008

Loch Insh was great all the activitys were so fun but my favourites were all of the water sports, skiing and bikeing. My room was so fun i was in the same room as Callum, Finlay, Gareth and Fraser.

42. Abigail 7c - April 16, 2008

Loch insh was really fun ! I liked kayaking the best the only one i didn’t like was skiing.Try not to capsize because your waterproofs will get soking and if you have a watersport next!

43. Gary 7D - April 17, 2008

Loch Insh

My favourite activity was the mountain biking, we did that just after we got off the bus and it’s best to wear waterproofs because it’s very muddy. One of my best moments was when I was paired with Kieran for canoeing because we almost fell in because we kept on rocking it. I’d never done canoeing and kayaking before so it was good fun and a fun way to learn. The skiing was great because I had never done it before and I felt I was quite good at it. I fell over just when I was standing and couldn’t get up that was on of my highlights. Tips for P6 take an extra pair of trainers and waterproofs. The BBQ and the Disco was a great way to finish the week at Loch Insh with lots of dancing at the disco.

44. Dennis 7D - April 17, 2008

Loch Insh

At Loch Insh my favourite things where skiing because I liked going fast, archery because It was fun trying to hit the target and the barbeque because the food was so nice. I learned skiing, archery and sailing and I had never done them ever. When the p6 s go to Loch Insh they should bring 4 pairs of gloves including water proof ones. They should also bring a couple of woolly jumpers because it’s cold! When I got there, at night when it was bedtime I was a little homesick but after that I was fine.

45. Kieran F 7D - April 17, 2008

Loch Insh
My favourite moments of Loch Insh were kayaking because I’ve never done it before but it was good fun. I also loved the cycling because it was hard work and you got drenched.
Things I have learned or never done before
I learned that up north it is absolutely freezing. I found out how to orientate a map as well. I have also never played shinty before but I liked it because it was brutal. I didn’t score any though OHHHH! Hints and tips for p6Make sure you wear your waterproof for all activities or you will get frozen. Don’t put too much rubbish and toys in your bag because it is mega heavy. Bring a lot of sweets in your backpack as you might get extra hungry.

46. Ciaran - April 17, 2008

Loch Inch

At Loch Inch my favourite things were Kayaking and Mountain biking I loved Kayaking because I fell in the Loch it was freezing but I was still laughing, Mountain biking was great because it was so muddy, wet and snowy we went through a knee deep river. My hint and tips are bring what it says on the list it is necessary, don’t fall in the loch on the last day, bring loads of sweets, take a big lunch on the bus, take a big suitcase and don’t leave your room after lights out you get is deep trouble :-)

47. katie woolley 7D - April 17, 2008

Loch Insh

Loch Insh was excellent. Everyone really enjoyed it and thought it was a great experience. My highlight of Loch Insh was sailing. We all got absolutely freezing but we learned the boat and Scott, the instructor, let all of my friends and me stand at the very front of the boat. This was very exciting but it was also a little bit scary because we could have fallen in the Loch and it had been snowing the night before. Another great experience was archery because it was my very first time and I scored a bull’s eye on my second shot! My third highlight was definitely skiing. It was very tiring because we had to shuffle up the steep hill sideways. This was also my first time skiing, I felt quite impressed because I managed to go off the jump at the end of the lesson! There are a lot of things I will always remember about loch insh such as my first time sailing and skiing and all of my first time activities that I found excellent.
A quick hint for primary six is to bring lots of waterproof trousers and more than one coat because you will get very cold and wet.
