PC Walker: Up, Down, Spinning Around April 29, 2008

Posted by Law Upper in : P7, visits , 2comments

On Monday 28th, PC Walker came to visit us in our P7 classes. He helped raise our awareness about drugs and their effects on our lives. We learned that many substances are drugs including prescription medicines, alcohol, tobacco and caffeine (in your tea, coffee and cola!). PC Walker also informed us about illegal substances and about whether drugs are depressants, stimulants or hallucinogenics. We will be following up on this work in class over the next few weeks ahead of our visit to Choices for Life in Edinburgh on Wed. May 21st.

Mrs Bolt back from India April 24, 2008

Mrs Bolt has just arrived back from India in an unusual traditional Indian dress. She was fascinated with the traditional clothes that they wore to weddings. She found it glorious and she couldn’t stop talking about the beautiful silk dresses. The thing that she disliked most about India was the sewage problems, the sewers were all open over the street. She also had a job in an all girls orphanage and just played games and had fun with them. She found it unbelievable how little they had and felt so sorry for the conditions that some people have to live in! She goes back next week and we wish her the best of luck.

This is us interviewing her on India and her thoughts about it… I wander what she will say?

Posted by Law Upper in : events , 1 comment so far

Law Primary is trying to get more people to do healthy homework! We are going to set a challenge each week. This week we are challenging you to see how many skips you can do in 1 minute. This challenge will be judge in areas. On Thursday 3rd May next week we will get the person with the highest number in each area to prove to us that you are telling the truth. We will change the challenge every week. After you have completed the challenge, post a comment on the web blog with your name and your class.

Councillor Berry came to award us with the 2008 health certificate and then we did whole school aerobics. Then we took our paired readers round the different playgrounds to do different health activities such as skipping and some playground games, parents could come and join in with the fun and buy Marie Curie daffodils to help cancer!

Winning Week for P7 Basketball and Football Teams April 18, 2008

Posted by sallan in : P7 , 2comments

At the end of a very busy first week back for P7 we are celebrating another 2 sporting successes!
On Monday the Basketball Team won the Regional Primary Finals at Meadowmill. By winning all their games we played against Bridgend, West Lothian in the final and we won! Well done to all the team and reserves!

On Wednesday our Football team took part in the John Home Robertson Tournament at Meadowmill. Again the team won all their games and won the John Home Robertson Trophy too. This means that we completed the Cup Double by adding this to our victory in the Douglas Allan Tournament earlier this year. Congratulations to all the boys who took part!
Both teams were able to share their success with Middle and Upper area pupils at our assemblies this morning. Here are the winning teams.
