P7 Explore Outer Space January 21, 2008

- Space Experiments exploring gravity, weightlessness, mass, weight , days, months and season.
- Space Powerpoints on Stars, galaxies, Black Holes, the Big Bang theory and the Universe - Learning with and from each other. A selection will be posted here for you to share.
- Researching Space Exploration and creating a timeline of key events.
- Discussing and debating big issues using concept cartoons.
- They also worked in groups to complete a newspaper challenge in which they had to plan and design a costume or model with a space theme, using only newspaper and cellotape. Lots of imagination and creativity were required and the results were “out of this world!” A slideshow will be created and posted here soon.

I thought that last week was really fun!! The space circuit was fun as well, I liked all the different actitvities in each classroom
P7’s space project was really fun and interesting.The circuit was great to.

I liked being mixed up and going to other classes to learn different things everyday. But I think I liked the power points the best but I liked the experiment to because I got to stand on the desk!!!
I liked last week how we did the circuit it was great I especially liked the powerpoint making. The art was good aswell.
Space week was really interesting.My 2 favourite bits were making powerpoints with Mrs Gilkinson and Starlab. Starlab was really good fun I especially liked the fake stars that were on the roof of the dome. We also did a newspaper challange. Siobhan and Katie Wooley were in my group and we dressed Katie as a human solar system made out of newspaper.We didn’t win the newspaper challange but we had loads of fun!
Last week was our space week and we did a newspaper challenge. I was in a group with two of my friends Holly and Imogen and we came third in the competition by making a space hat . On friday we had a visit from the Starlab and I thought it was great - we were inside a big dome and saw loads of pictures of planets and stars . My highlight of the week would have to be the newspaper challenge and i would say that the starlab was one of my favourite activities to !
For the newspaper challenge my group made a space ship with extra boost. My group was me, Ciaran and Kyllie. We had great fun doing it but unfortunatly we didn’t make it to the final.
The annoying thing about Starlab is than when you are looking at the stars and screen it hurts your neck because you head is tilted back. Starlab was fun but educating at the same time.
My two highlights of space week was the powerpoint presentation with Mrs Gilkinson and the experiment with Mrs MacNiven. The whole week was great fun.
I thought the Space Week was really interesting. We did a newspaper challenge, I was in Anya and Katie Watson’s group. We made Saturn and an Astronaut. The good thing is that we got into the final but we did not win.
I thought that the Starlab was really fun because we got to see all the planets, the moon, the sun and the stars!
The highlights about Space Week are that we mixed classes and I learnt a lot about Space which I did not know before.
I really enjoyed space week. In the newspaper challenge my group was Eilidh, Imogen, and me. We made a top hat with a planet on the top. It was really fun. Our group came third! The Starlab was amazing. It was cool to see all the star constellations. My two highlights were the Starlab and the newspaper challenge.
Last week we did a newspaper challenge. I was with Lucy, Katie Wa and me, we made moon boots, a moon belt, a helmet and Saturn. It was really really fun!!!! We got to the finals but we didn’t win…
We also went to see Starlab, it was really cool ! You went inside a massive dome, switched off the lights and you could see lots of stars moving. My favourite 2 bits of space week were the power points and the experiment because I got to demonstrate!!!
The whole thing was really great fun!!!!
In my group I had Andrew and Gary we made a space gun. We also had a visit from Star Lab about planets and stars which was really exciting and fun. One of the main things about space weak was making a powerpoint about space.
I really enjoyed space week and feel like I have learned a lot. In the
news paper challenge i worked with Megan Lott and Siobhan. We used the news paper to make planets and I was dressed as a human
Solar System. One of my favourite parts of space week was when the Star Lab came in. They had a big, black dome which we all went in then they showed us a detailed presentation on are Solar System. My highlights from space week were deffinately the Star Lab which I thought was fabulous and the news paper challenge which I really enjoyed.
We did the newspaper challenge last week and i loved it,it was really fun,i was with kieran and peter we made satern,it was good to have a really enjoyible time instead of work. We also went to a starlab in the gym hall we learnt about all the planets and the stars,we went in a big dome and if you whisperd the whole class heard so you couldent talk at all. That week it was space week where we learnt all about the universe and the moon and all that kind of things,my main highlight was the star lab and learning all about the moon and how it has know gravity and spins round the earth.
Near the end of Space week we did a challenge with newspaper. What we had to do was work in groups of three, Darren and Mark were in my group. We used scissors, newspaper and sellotape to make something to do with space, we made a rocket. I also enjoyed Starlab were we looked at pictures of stars and planets. My two favourite bits of space week were the Newspaper challenge and making powerpoints.
For the News paper challenged in my group there was Jack, Peter and me(Kieran). We made Saturn! but we didn’t win anything.
I thought the starlab was very interesting and i thought it learnt me a lot about space and planets.
Space week was really interesting and a lot of fun. I really didn’t know much but now i come out with a full head.
The newspaper challenge was really fun my group made saturn with the newspaper and Anya got through but she didn’t win. Starlab was really exciting I expewcially liked the stars on the top of the dome. it was fun when we did experiments in space circuit.
Space week was very informative and fun everyone learnt a lot and enjoyed doing all the activities and challenges. The newspaper challenge was especially good my group won medals and a packet of sweeties because we came third. Eilidh, Holly and me were all in a group. Another thing we did as part of space week was the Starlab which was also very informative and fun way to find out about space, to see all the stars above us in the dome with a man telling us about them.
It was fun getting mixed up and going to different classrooms, and it was fun learning abut the sun and the black hole. starlab was excellent. In my group for the newspaper challenge were finlay,cairan.
We did a newspaper challenge my group made a rocket Finlay and Kylie were in my group, we did’nt win but I kept the rocket. We also did a Starlab thing we learnt about stars,planets and the sun we watched a power point on planets we also saw a special light which showed all the stars and mars. One of my favourite things were when we did experiments on gravity, but my all favourite thing was the newspaper challenge.
Space week was good and it gave people information on planets and things to do with space. For the space challange I made a comet and Coke, Padraig, and Steven where in my group. The newspaper challange was fun and it was something different to do.
The starlab was cool because we where in a tent sort of thing and at one moment it was very dark, I liked the information on the planets.
The two things I liked about the space week was going round different classes and doing the timeline on space ships and stuff.
The newspaper challenge was relly fun and we made a medara and a launch pad for our rocket to blast offffff!
Starlab was very fun when people said any thing it made an echo.
The best thing I liked was the starlab and newspaper challenge.
We did newspaper challenge my group was Darrin and Fergus we decided to make a Rocket. To make it we used siccors, sellotape and newspaper. I thought starlab was really good because we saw what each planet looks like and description of each of them. My two highlights were doing a good powerpoint and learning about Comets.
For the newspaper challenge I was in a group with Kieran, Jack and me (Peter). We made Saturn as our planet and we were called the Bud Bud’s. Our group only got one vote but we still tried. I really liked star lab because some the class from 7A came with our class (7D). We went into a big dome that echoed everything you said! The two men from star lab showed us stars and planets!!
Last week was space week and we did a newspaper challenge. In my group I had Finn, Gary and me. We made paper jewellery and I was a space pilot.
For the newspaper challenge I was in a group with Andrew and Finn. We made a space gun and In was an alien but we didn’t win.
I enjoyed the star lab because it was a really fun way of learning.
My favourite highlight was the powerpoint because we finished and got lots of animations. My second best highlight was when it was dark in th star lab because it was like night time.
I enjoyed the newspaper challenge . The people in my group were dennis Steven and Coke . we made a launch pad two rocket’s and meteors and a hat .
I thought the star lab was cool I liked seeing all the planets .
I enjoyed going around the classes to do different things and my favorite one was doing my power point.
I really enjoyed the space week. The dome was really cool but my favourite activity was the newspaper challange !!!

I really liked space week it was really fun, i also liked the powerpoints
and the starlab it was really good and i found it really interesting.But my all time fav was the newspaper challenge because me,Joanna and Iona won and came 1st place.
I liked space week beause it was fun and I liked the star lab but best of all was the newspaper challenge making the monkey man.
I really enjoyed space week.The circut and newspaper challenges were the best.I liked the powerpoint in circiut and making Hamish ‘Monkey Man’ in newspaper challenge.
I really enjoyed space week, especially the space circuit. It was fun that in each classroom there was a different actitvities. The power points were really fun because we all got a shot and chose our own back ground and infomation that we wanted to type on to it. it was very interesting to find out why we all have seasons and why we can only see one side of the moon every night. The starlab was extra fun because I didn’t get to go last time so it was very exciting for me, especially when it all got dark and we all got to gaze up at the stars on the ceiling.
I thought space week was really fun especially the space circuit and the starlab. my favourite space circuit was mrs gilkison’s powerpoint one. The starlab was really good especially the indoor planetarium.
I enjoyed space week , especially the starlab because you got to look up at the stars and see all the different patterns that they can make.I liked the space circut aswell because you got to learn a different thing about space every day of the week.I enjoyed doing the powerpoint because you could do all the different backrounds.Overall i enjoyed space week!!
I really enjoyed Space.I really enjoyed the star lab because i never knew very much about stars but now i now know so much i can not keep it all in my head.I also really enjoyed all four of the space circuits because i learnt so much from all four of the circuits.
I really enjoyed our mini topic on Space. Space Week was really fun because every day you went to a diffrent room. On Monday i did Powerpoints, Tuesday Timeline of Space, Wednesday Space Experiments,Thursday Concept Cartoons and Friday Star lab it was really dark but so fun!
It was a great topic!
