`Tis the Season to think about others… December 18, 2007
Posted by smacniven in : P7, Term 2 2007 , 2commentsPrimary 7 pupils have been thinking about what it would be like to be homeless in Scotland and other countries. We had lots of discussions about our views at the start of this unit and how they have changed, including the many myths and facts around about being homeless and the fact that it could happen to anyone at any time!
They had a look at the Bethany Trust website and listened to a very thought provoking song, before putting their feelings and ideas down into poetry which they will post here.

Christmas Shopping Challenge! December 6, 2007
Posted by smacniven in : Term 2 2007, maths , add a commentA P7 maths set have been thinking about how important maths is in real life. A good example of this is Christmas Shopping. They were given a “virtual” budget of £150.00 to spend on members of their family and friends using a wide variety of catalogues.
The challenge is to get as close to the budget as possible. Here they are enjoying this “real life” challenge. maths-xmas-shopping.mov
Amazing Skipping Show December 5, 2007
Posted by sallan in : Term 2 2007 , 3commentsToday two pupils from every P6 and P7 class took part in an afternoon skipping workshop aimed at making them expert skippers. They worked very hard all afternoon, learned lots of new skills and tried lots of difficult challenges. The rest of the Upper Area got the chance to see these new moves in a superb demonstration at the end of the afternoon.
Everyone was really amazed at the individual and group jumps and games which they showed us. Some pupils were so keen that they took part in an after school workshop too. An excellent afternoon and what a great way to keep fit!
We are looking forward to showing off some of our new skills in the playground (when the rain stops!). Look out for photos and videos coming soon.
