Primary 7 have been working in focus groups researching information on the Edinburgh Transport Debate. They looked particularly at Trams, Buses, Greenways and Park and Ride, as well as proposals for a new Forth Road Bridge and the Congestion Charge.
They then fedback to their classes on these issues and put together a presentation of their findings, their own views and opinions and a list of questions they would like to discuss.
All P7 pupils also wrote a letter inviting their MSP into school to discuss current issues and to engage in a question time on his life as an MSP.
Today 19.11.07 they were visited by Iain gray MSP and Alaisdair Morgan MSP, who spent the whole morning visiting with all classes and engaging in discussion with them. It was a very informative visit indeed.
Pupils will now use the information and the outcome of the discussions to compile a Transport Report to Edinburgh City Council as part of the focus on writing for a real life and relevant purpose.

I thought the visit from the MSP’s was really interesting . I was in the Congestion Charging group and was presenting all my imformation with Finlay ! The MSP’s had alot to say and were were all paying lots of attention . All of the imformation we gathered will go into a transport report and some of the will be sent to the council and the parlament !
Yesterday 2 MSP’s came in to listen to our thoughts and ideas on the Edinburgh transport debate. Their names were Iain Gray and Alaisdar Morgan. I was a spokesman for my group, The Forth Road Bridge, we had lots of questions to ask and we got some really intresting answers. I can’t wait to visit the parliament on Tuesday!
When the 2 MSP’s Iain Gray and Alasdair Morgan came in it was kind of exciting because they are very important people.
We were disscusing about the transport debate and we all had a group for asking questions and telling them some facts. There was groups like the trams, road pricing, buses and greenways and the Forth Road Bridge.
The visit from the MSP’s was really interesting. We had a big debate about Edinburghs transport problems. I think that everybody had really good points and opinions. The MSP’s, Iain Gray and Alastair Morgan, listened to each groups presentation and we asked questions. They said that if they could only make two changes in Scotland they would be reducing the congestion in Edinburgh, helping young people in Scotland that have left school at 16 and can’t find a job.Thankyou for coming in!!!
I really enjoyed the MSP visit (Iain Gray and Alaisdair Morgan) because we had a interesting debate.. I was in the trams group and the people who spoke for my group were Finn, Holly, Ciara and Finlay Carr. We asked him questions and I asked him how noisy are they and the answer was that they are normally quiet but if your in your house and a tram goes by then they might not like it. I learned that they should be getting trams at about 2010.:D
The MSP presentation was very interesting. I thought that we learned so much about the transport debate and what life is as an MSP. Like it’s hard to handle pressure and theres a lot of different goals. I am a Pupil Council so i got to introduce them and take them to the office at the end.
When the MSP ’s came to see our presentation on the transport

The group i was in was busses and greenway ’s . I thought it was quite fun meeting them and i learned and about what my group and everyone elses .

:DYesterday two MSP’s came in to talk to us about the transport debate and their life as an MSP.There were four groups and mine was trams.Finn,Finlay,Ciera and me were the spokespeople for the group.
We had presentations and the rest of the group got to ask a questions. Also everyone learnt a lot for instance one of the ways they got people to vote for them was by sending leaflets round to peoples doors. The talk was a great experience,a once in a lifetime oppurtunity.Something I will definatly remember.
I think it was excellent that Ian Gray and Alister Morgan came to Law Primary, It taught us alot. It made us think and also made them think alot aswell. I learnt that there are alot of debates going on in Edinburgh, and there have to be lot of decisions. I asked them a question it was:Have you ever been late for work because of the buses holding up the traffic? They said no,they normally use buses and trains.
I really enjoyed my self, it was really intresting I said a speech at the start and the end because I am a pupil councillor!
:D I was in the Forth Road Bridge group I didn’t know that we were going to be getting a new bridge or tunnel so it was very intresting to learn that.
Yesterday two MSP’S called Ian Gray and Alaisdar Morgan. They listened to our facts and our suggestions and ideas and there opinion was not much different to ours. I was in the trams group and the top reason for not getting them was it would reduce pollution and the reason against was it will not be as safe because they are fast ( about 49 mph.) We were told that we won’t get trams till 2010.
Two MSP’s (Ian Gray and Alaisdair Morgan) come to law primary school to talk about the trams, Forth road bridge, bus’s and greenways and road pricing. I thought that it was really good and very interesting and good to find out what they thaught about the trams, buses and greenways, Forth road bridge and road pricing.I learned that buses can’t really vandelise buses because they have CCTV in them and so will the trams. :D:D
I cant believe Ian gray came to Law primary and Alisdair Morgan. I learned about buses and greenways and that only buses can go in the lane. I learned that trams will not be noisy. The Forth Road Bridge needs to be newer because it is getting rusty. Then we asked qestions to the MSP’s.:D

Last Monday two local MSPs came into talk about different types of public transport and transport problems in Edinburgh. When my group had to give our talk,I was nervous because we had to say it infront of two very important people and be filmed by our teacher.

I thought it was a really good idea to get the MSPs in. We learnt a lot about the current transport debates in Edinburgh eg. Trams Greenways and the forth road bridge.
I thought it was a really good day for us when the MSP’S came in. We learnt a lot about them and there job. I still have a lot of questions for them to answer. They had a lot of reasons to get more transport in Edinbrugh.
I thought it was very interesting when the Msp’s Ian Gray and Alaisdair Morgon came into visit the primary sevens and i think we have learnt a lot more about all of our subjects. We were learning about Congestion Charging, Buses and Greenways, Trams and The Forth Road Bridge. I thought that it was agreat experience when they came in and i really enjoyed it.
I really enjoyed it when the MSP’S came in. It was really fun to have the opportunity to talk to them. A few things I learnt are that we are desperately needing a new forth road bridge or tunnel and that we wre thinking of getting road charges to get into the city in your car but most people say no.
I thought the MSP visit went very well because they gave us their veiws on the Edinburgh transport debate. Each group gave a presentation and asked questions after each one. At the end some of us asked questions about what it is like to be an MSP.
The msp visit was very informative we learnt lots of things about life as an msp and things about trams, buses and greenways, congestion charging and the Forth Road Bridge which was also very informative. The msp’s had lots to say and were very good at answering our questions. I had lots of questions to ask and i learned that to be an msp it is very important that you are fair and can be bothered to do things.

I thought the MSP that came in had very cool job’s. The msp’s were talking to us about the transport problems in edinburgh. The group that i was in was the Forth Road Bridge.
When the MSP’s came in to talk to us it was really interesting to listen to their opinions on each type of transport. It was also fun putting together a presentation to show them in our groups, mine was Buses and Greenways, but at the same time I was very nervous. Everything went fine though so I had nothing to worry about!
i thought it was really great to have the MSP,s into talk to us because we could ask them all our questions and it really helped with our transport presentation.it was really fun but hard to put them together and i think we all injoyed it.i was really nervous when they first came but in the end it tured out fine so i had nothing to worry about in the end
i thought it was very good that the msps came in. i thought it was great being able to ask Questions about the transport debate and to be able to get their answers and opinions on it!!!!
