P7bs visit to the high school October 1, 2007
Posted by Law Upper in : Term 1 2007/08 , trackbackP7b went a visit to the high school to a science lab to do science with Miss Nicholson .We used the smart board to find out about experiment relationships. Miss Nicholson told us about another word which was variable it meant changing something. She showed us some shapes on the smart board and we had to write down what was changing. At the end of the lesson we did an experiment to test our reaction time. We all enjoyed the very informative lesson and are looking forwards to doing science in high school!

i think it was a great idea to get the the children ready for high school

It was really hard but me and my partner worked really hard and we had to hold out our hand and your partner dropped the ruler and you had to grab it. To see how fast we were at grabbing. We had to go on
the calculator to work out how fast it was. I was really cool because Miss Nicolson knows my bus buddy.
I really enjoyed the visit at the High School when we visited the science lab. I learned that valuables is a science word for things.
We all completed a worksheet and we worked out if the different pictures were related.
The science was quite interesting. I learned that children would normally have a quicker reaction to things than adults would. I also learned things about two different shapes a square and a triangle sizes small medium and big and they were different colours and we had to work out their relationships.
I have not been to the high school yet but i can’t wait because i have heardv that it is great fun and i like science quite a lot.

on the 29/10/07 we did a experiment on our reactions we dropped a meter stick into our partners hand and find out the centirmetres they caught it on if caught it on say 1cm you would type 0.01 in a calculator times it by 5 and square root it . We also learned about values,varables and differences. It was really good!!
I really enjoyed going across to the high school in the science department because we got a sheet of paper and we had to see the diffrence between colours and shapes.Also we checked if are reflexes were good.
I’m really pleased that you are enjoying the visits to the High School. I’m even more pleased to see that you remember the new words we were using and the maths!! I hope you will enjoy the investigation I will be taking to your classes in the next few weeks.
