The Simpsons come to Law Primary? September 26, 2007

All P7 classes will be involved in the “gene jury” this week. A debate and discussion about genes and how and why we are the way we are. Great discussions have raged and so many questions asked and answered. Pupils were asked to think about the idea of “designer babies” and how they could be made and indeed if they should be made! A very interesting workshop indeed! The pupils will share what  they thought and learned here.

Fun Maths Road Show September 13, 2007

Today we had a fun maths road show. We were split into four groups, set 1, set 2, set 3, and set 4 the challenges were varied and they were very hard. There was about 25 challenges per set. It was a great day and we all enjoyed it.

There was a game called building up dominoes. You had to match the dominoes so the numbers were the same.

Another game was you had different shaped cards. Then you had to fit them together to make a sqaure. It was quite hard because all the card pieces were different.

Your Volcano and Earthquake research booklet is due to be handed in this Friday 14th September and we will all spend time looking at and learning from each others work.

Remember it is very important to pace and organise yourself so that you are not rushing at the last minute.

I would be helpful for others if you could recommend a useful website or other source that you have used. Tell us why you are recommending it too! Here is one to get us started:

Pupils have been using their creative skills and have been producing some wonderful art work. We will share examples of these here.   dscf0910.JPG dscf0447.JPG dscf0449.JPG

Some of us experimented with marbling today and here are some of our results. Our next task is to design something using the pattern we have created. Watch this space to find out what we come up with.  dscf0462.JPG dscf0461.JPG dscf0460.JPGdscf0459.JPG dscf0463.JPG dscf0464.JPG

Well here they are - our masterpieces made from the marbling we did last week. As you can see there are lots of different ideas and designs.
