How we use First News! April 24, 2008
Posted by Law Middle in : Uncategorized , add a commentFirst News is a children’s newspaper that tells us what is happening around the world. We use it for interhouse challenges and sometimes for reading homework. The children in our class really enjoy reading it because it is a lot easier to read than a normal newspaper. The newspaper was first brought in to our school at the start of the school year. We get three copies every week and we get a half class set every term.

P4b Fair - March 18th April 10, 2008
Posted by Pat Phillips in : Uncategorized , add a commentP4b had a really successful fair. They worked really hard planning and organising stalls so all would go smoothly. It was very busy and well supported by the other P4 classes, thank you. We now plan to buy skipping ropes and a rhyme book for the children in an Orphanage in Bangalore where Mrs Bolt is working with the children.
John Muir Drama October 31, 2007
Posted by Miss Boyd in : Uncategorized , 2commentsPrimary 5 have been learning about John Muir’s childhood through drama. Drama teacher Marjory Sweeney has been teaching the children about John’s life at home and at school in the 19th Century. The children had great fun acting out some of the fun and adventurous things John and his brother used to get up to behind his faither’s back!
Here are some of the plays the children made up:
Marjory gets ready to tell a few stories to the children in her role as John Muir.
Scene 1: John aged 3 goes out for a walk in the woods with his grandfather. He wants to take the mice he finds home but his grandfather said “Leave them be. Nature should be left alone in its rightful home”
Scene 2: John and Davey ask to go to the rockpools to play but they end getting very muddy and get into big trouble with faither.
Scene 3: John and Davey play ’skoochers’ when they should be sleeping in bed! Faither is NOT happy!
Scene 4: At school, Mr Sidins is not impressed with their maths skills! The children leave at the end of the day BUT they soon run back to school having seen…The Dandy Dochters!

We listened really well so that we could re-tell them to our parents and Primary 7 in one class and Primary 5 in another. Many thanks for listening so well. You were brilliant!
Colin presented Law Primary with a picture made from recycled banana skins to recognise their efforts in gaining a bronze award from Eco-Schools Scotland.
