Posted by Miss Boyd in : 2007-08, P4, P5 , 1 comment so farWell done to the children in the Middle Area! You raised £382 for FARM-Africa! Together, the P4s and P5s raised this huge amount…with their wellies!!
The p4s had a Welly Day and took part in all sorts of fun and educational activities to raise money for the charity. Some of them decorated wellies and cut them out. They then stuck them onto a big piece of yellow paper to spell out the word Africa. Mr Barnes liked it so much he used in the Whole School Assembly today!
The p5s had a ten minute sponsored welly dance last Friday and managed to raise a lot of money thanks to kind sponsorship from their families.
At the Whole School Assembly today, Mr Barnes asked all the Pupil Councillors from P1-P7 to speak into the microphone at the Sports Centre to tell all the boys and girls what they’d done to help raise money for FARM-Africa in an enterprising way.
As they told him what they’d done, Mrs Clark from the school office told us the running total after each year stage. Mr Barnes had predicted that we’d raise over £450. He used coloured welly boots pegged to a badminton net to show all the children how much we’d raised at each stage. By the time he’d gotten to P5 he’d realised that the target had been met already!!! WOW!! Have a look at the photo below to see the total money raised by the children and their families.
They raised a staggering £2326.42 !! And the best news is there is still some money being counted as I type! Well done for all your hard work and all the teachers for their support. FARM-Africa will be over the moon.
Even Mrs Ford brought her wellies!

Shrek, Sully, Doctor Who eat your heart out! Today P5 were building monsters!
Edinburgh University have come to visit us today (Tuesday 25th). Lara was sent to teach us about Genes. No not those jeans that you wear…GENES that make you who you are! We had to pick which characteristics were stronger than others and BUILD A MONSTER! We had to pick tummies, claws, eyes, etc to make our monsters! Amelie and Zak got to dress up in silly costumes but it was great fun. They had helpers who went to different tables to select the different genes. 
Zak was very happy with his.

P5 Seashore Visit
Primary 5B went down to the beach because we were learning about the seashore. We all found stuff like butterfish & crabs. We all got very wet & some of us slipt on the rocks.
