Water still had to be fetched from wells when he was young.
He married a lady called Louise.
He tried to save Hetch Hetchy and Yosemite.
The first time he came back to Dunbar was1893.

Dunbar was famous for fishing and farming. His father Daniel Muir was very religious and strict to him and his 7 brothers and sisters.

I learned that John lived next door from 1841-1849 and that they use to suck raw eggs before they went running in the fields to stop them getting stitches. His right eye was blinded after an accident while working on an invention. After that he promised to give up inventions for ever.
