Rockpool Ramble September 21, 2008

On Friday 19th September all primary 5 pupils and teachers along with the help of 6 parents and 3 Rangers, had a splashing smashing time down at the beach, rambling around the rockpools and identifying all the life there which they had been learning about over the past few weeks.

When we went to the rockpools and we saw lots of things. If you wait for a wile, while looking in the rockpools I found a crab that was green!!! but I dropped it back in the stream that it was in. We got to look around for about 40 mins and then we saw what other people had. Then we measured limpets it was ok but I found the rockpooling more exiting.
I love the trip to the beach. First we had a box and we had to find some crabs, star fish ,sea anemone and hermit crabs it was fun.
Then we had to see how many molluscs you can find.
At last we went back to school we did some skipping.
P5 rockpool visit
What i liked about the rockpool visit
1. I lIke how we got to climb over the rocks and find lots of creatures .
We found 2 crabs and 2 sea anemones but the rock was lose so we could put it in our tubs .
2. I also lIked that we had a look around all of the other peoples tubs it was cool . Someone even hade a starfish .
3. We had to count all the limpet the height , the length , and if it was pointing North ,East ,South ,West .
I was so sad to leave it was a great day .
p5 rock pool vist was great because we went around the rocks and
found lots of animals I found a starfish and a crab.
There were two rangers and we were split into groups it was great
We were given area to count all the limpets you had to measure and see which way they were leaning.
The best bit about the rockpooling was looking for creatures in the rocks.I found lots of sea anemones under the water and I found a dead crab.I also found a golf ball.I also got put in to a group and we got a space on the beach.We had to count how many limpets there were and I found 65 on our space.We also had to measure the width and the height of each limpet.
I liked when we did the rockpooling because I found 2hermit crabs and 1 crab. It was still fun when I had not found any animals because we got to walk around lifting up rocks and stuff.
I also liked when we did the measuring limpets. We had to measure how tall, how wide and which direction it was facing north, south, east or west.
I liked looking for rockpools creatures I found a hermit crab.Lots of people in my class found interesting creatures.Then we went to the ranger and she told us interesting information about other creatures.Then we went into groups and the ranger told us that you have to find as many limpets as you can in your area.
what I did and what I liked at the rockpools.
I found 2 crabs and a mussel.
We also measured 30 metres, then got 5 groups of 5 and 1 group of 6.Each group got 5 metres of the 30 metres and looked for limpets.
On Friday went to the beach. We brought plastic tubs to put small sea creatures we find in I found two crabs and four hermit crabs.We had to bring welly boots,waterproof trousers and a waterproof coat. Someone found a some coral that people call dead man’s fingers and someone else found a common starfish. Going to the beach was GREAT!
ROCK POOLS
At the rock pools on Friday we found lots of crabs,starfish,shells we even found a deadmans finger wich is a type of coaral. We filled our tubs with sea weed sand and water to make the animals feel at home . Then we did this thing were we measured an area and counted all the limpets and then we measured them in height and width. I really liked the rock pooling.
WE ENJOYED THESE THINGS ON THE VIST TO THE ROCKPOOLS WITH THE COUNTRYSIDE RANGER.
I enjoyed scrambling in the rockpool because we found a lot of things.
Also I enjoyed learning about the rockpool creatures. When the starfish stuck to the ranger.
We found a scaley Starfish, a three secret Shore Crabs,an agile Sea Anemone and a rascle Ragworm.
Last Friday the whole of primary 5 went down to the east beach to look for sea creatures. Me and my friend Matthew worked together,we found 2 hermit crabs,a dead crab,a alive crab,a starfish and some sea snails .
I really enjoyed going to the Seaside!
I really enjoyed the visit to the rockpools because I like collecting lots of little creatures and I found 3 hermit crabs, a baby crab abd a starfish.
I ENJOY THE ROCKPOOL VIST BECAUSE
Found 1 crab I named him Mr Crab he was very cheeky because he nipepd me with his pincer. I also found 2 hermit crabs I did not name them it was too hard. After that we did something that the ranger made up, we got in to groups of 6 and measured limpets.
I liked the trip to the beach because we got to look in the rockpools. I found a hermit crab. It had lots of different colours on it’s shell.
After we found them we had to put them back where we found them.
We also looked for limpets. We went into groups and each group a little bit of rock. Then we looked on our bit of rock. My group found 19 limpets.
my name is helen I am going to tell you about my visit to the beach.
I went with my class 5a it was cold,wet but fun. I did it with the
class,my teacher and the ranger. Me and Andrew found 4
hermit crabs, 2 sea slugs,8 sea snails and 2baby shore crabs.
SEASHORE VISIT
I loved going to the beach beacause I found a couple of hermit crabs
someone else gave me about 9! I also found 2 starfish, a common star and a cushion star I think.
The thing I enjoyed was when I caught a shrimp and that was hard to catch.The other thing I liked was when we had to measure lots of limpets which were massive too. And the last thing I enjoyed was when we went on the rocks to find stuff But I found a crab that nipped me and that was the seashore visit.
I had such a good time at the beach because we got to look where
ever we wanted to find some creatures.
Me and lauren found a dead mans finger and a crab claw and an edible crab .
At the end we measured limpets and wrote the measurement down. it was very fun at the beach.
I enjoyed the rockpools because it was fun.
I enjoyed when the coastguard showed us
a starfish that only had 4 legs.
Another thing I enjoyed was when we had to measure the limpets
on the rocks.
It was a great visit.
i really liked finding all the things at the beach and in the rock pools.
I saw four molluscs two people found a star fish one of them were
very small and the other one was very big. We saw two a sea anemones the 2nd oneIi put my finger in it and i could feel it holding onto me. At the end we all looked at each others sea creatures and had GREAT FUN
When we went to the rockpools we saw a common starfish in a big but shallow rock pool. We also saw lots of crabs and hermit-crabs. Some of my friends got socked from head to toe.Then we talked about all the creatures we got and some got starfish.
The Ranger found A STar fish and I found a crab and a sea snail, It was fun . I liked mesuring limpets.
What I loved at the rockpool visit was.
1.I enjoyed when we went to look for creatures
even if I found nothing.
2.Learning about sea creatures.
I loved the visit.
We found lots of hermit crabs and they started to fight so we let some go. We also found some mini crabs and a crab with a missing leg and one with a dented head.
I loved looking in all the rockpools to find sea creatures it was so cool. We had 3 Rangers with us, we had a great time, we measured limpets but I like finding creatures better. I found a hermit crab, molluscs and I found a sea snail.
My name is Helen and I am going to tell you about my trip
to the sea bird centre .I realy enjoyed it .going down stairs.it was the
best of all we did the controll screens first.then we went upp stairs
to make an Animal house.After that we went back to school.
I really enjoyed the trip to the rock pools I loved looking for the sea
creatures.
I learnt that star fish can hang with one leg.
There is a star fish called a bloody Henry.
At the rockpools I found a hermit crab, a fish and saw lots of anenomes which I did not pull off. I learned that the closer you are to the sea the more creatures you find.
This year there was not that many
fish but when we went in p2 there was lots i still liked the trip.
I loved the rock pools. Someone found a starfish named bloody henry. A big starfish.
I enjoyed the trip but i felt cold.When i came back from the rock pools. It was really fun to be off school and go to the rock pools insted.
I really enjoyed searching for rock pool creatures.
I really liked going to the rock pools. These are some of the things i liked about it…
1.I was able to find a star fish(i have never found a star fish before)
2.I liked seeing the different rock pool creatures!
I realy enjoyen the trip.I found millions of hermit crabs but the ranger told me to put some balk because they will fight and that isn’t very good .I also found a baby crab but i coulden’t pick it up because it was to soft and then we went balk over to the padeling pool and the class saw a big edible crab.somthing was funny because the teams we were in for doing limpet searching,we found more crabs at the wall than at the at the rockpools.
