I thoroughly enjoyed looking at the website and the blogs. It’s fascinating to see the students’s reactions to what they are studying - and what a fantastic range of contributions! I enjoyed seeing the animations from the infants, and seeing / hearing some of the podcasts. The poems were great too! (If you want to find out more about dreams, I recommend ‘The Dream-Master’ by Theresa Breslin, which might be rather fun for P7s ![]()

I think I like the idea that the children get to be there with us, as they knew how they did and how they could improve themselves.
I’ve also looked through the website and the blogs, I think this web is very useful as there are lots of games for the children to play and practice their learning skill, and also good for updating information. GREAT !

I thought it was helpful having Amy there at parent’s night and enjoyed having her to show me round the classroom and talk me through her folders. She really enjoyed the experience too.I think there are times though, when a follow-up appointment might be needed, with parents only.
I enjoy the website and think it is informative and fun.

Christopher enjoyed showing us all his work and around the classroom at parent’s night. I think it was good for him to hear what his teacher had to say about him but I personally I would have liked some time alone to discuss certain issues.
I think the school weblog is really good and its great to see and hear what the children are doing.

The Whiskey Bottle wood is a main attraction in North Berwick. Walkers, cyclists and other people use the Whiskey Bottle. Building 500 houses in place of the Whiskey Bottle Wood would destroy habitats of the local wildlife living there. It would also cause new roads to be built or old ones to be moved. In addition, the already big school would be given a huge extension and lots of money would have to be invested in the infrastructure of the town, such as sewers and running water. The algae in the Whiskey Bottle pond would have to be dealt with.
However, there are some pros to having lots of new houses, like the locals shops would thrive and more money would go into the economy. There would also be a new variety of jobs and it would be cheaper and easier for first time house buyers to buy a house.
On balance I think it would not be a good thing for North Berwick to lose the Whiskey Bottle wood because I see North Berwick as a little seaside town, not a large industrial town.
Comment from Oscar Budden
Time: June 11, 2008, 6:52 pm
I think the whisky Bottle should be kept because it would need lods of money to build 500 houses, and we could use that money to make the whisky bottle unpolluted. Also the increase of people would mean building another school and hurting wildlife habitats and people go to visit for a nice day out. Also the more green spaces the better.
Comment from jo mclaren, oscars mum.
Time: June 11, 2008, 7:05 pm
I agree with Oscar that a further increase to the population of North Berwick would put added strain on what feels an already crowded school. Also on the occasions we have visited the whiskey bottle there are always other people visiting, which means it is a well used out door resource. It would be a shame to add to yet more loss of habitat for thelocal wild life. I do however appreciate the need for AFFORDABLE housing to be built.

The three most interesting facts I learned from our visit from Mr Wright were:
If the supervolcano in Yellowstone Park erupted then there would be an ice age.
If you’re near a volcano the rotten egg smell is actually sulphur.
There are over 1000 active volcanoes in the world.
