Hello Broque,
We are all missing you. We have been very busy preparing for the Museum. The model of Traprain Law now has walls round it and there are roundhouses on top of it. We have used lots of green paint and modoc and artstraws. The big pictures are finished now too. Kieran has displayed the information by making lift the flap signs which say true or false underneath.
This afternoon we went out to practise for sports. P3 are coming up on Friday morning for sports with us. Next week P3 are coming to our school for the day - on Tuesday. We will move into P7 for the day.
We hope you will soon be feeling better,
from 4C

We are busy preparing our museum exhibits.  4C are finding out about homes and daily life.  4B are researching food and farming, and weapons and warfare.  4A are studying ideas and beliefs, and finding out about clothes.

Our museum opens on 14th June.  We have a guest list, and 4B are making invitations.

Learning about Traprain Law

h1 May 10th, 2007

dscn1243.JPG Hanna of Traprain would have walked here when she was going to the river.

Looking from Traprain Law towards Haddington.

We could see the rain passing over North Berwick Law.

We stopped for a snack.

Vic told us about the Votadini tribe who lived at the top of Traprain.  Can you see we are standing in a stone circle ?  It was very windy - we were glad we didn’t live up there !

Lauriston Castle

h1 April 30th, 2007

On 24.04.07 the p4 year group went to Lauriston Castle. We got there on a bus to the other side of  Edinburgh. While we where going I saw my dad’s ship that he was fixing lastweek.  We went there because it was Eco Week.  Lauriston  Castle had lots of plants and trees.  My favourite tree was the monkey puzzle tree. They had lots of lovely plants and flowers that were bold and different colours.

We were finding woodlice.  We were putting wodlice on a black and white grid to see if it would prefer the black or the white.  I got my nature postcard and set off on our nature scavenger hunt.

dscn1241.JPG             dscn1240.JPGCan you see the woodlouse ?

We played after lunch. I played on the big grass hill.  I needed to call in 4C becaue we were going to play a game.  It was called woolly caterpillars.  It helps us think about camouflage. The game was to get some wool and stick it on trees and plants.  We had to work in teams to find it.

We ran out of time so we could not go on a walk.  We went on the bus back to Haddington.

Easter holidays

h1 April 12th, 2007

Good morning 4c, I hope you are all enjoying the Easter holidays.  As we have had lots of good weather I have been busy in my garden and in my greenhouse.  Everything is growing very quickly in the greenhouse, including your tomato seedlings.

dscn1232.JPGThey all have proper tomato plant leaves now.  We will have to decide which seedlings to leave and which to take out.  It is not very easy to see all the bigger leaves in the photgraph.

If you have time, you could tell us what you have been doing over the holidays by adding a comment.

Remember to bring your PE kit back to school on Wednesday.

Enjoy the rest of your holiday.

Tomato seedlings - How big are they now ?

h1 March 28th, 2007

Today we had to decide which seedlings looked strongest.  We took the weakest ones out to give the others more room to grow.  Some pots needed more compost.

Mrs Macdonald is going to look after the seedlings while we are on holiday.  An update photo will be put on this blog so we can see if they are growing !  We hope they will be bigger and stronger when we come back to school.

A busy morning in 4c

dscn1173.JPGdscn1171.JPGdscn1170.JPG

We were quite excited to hear about our new blog site. We all decided what we were going to post on to the site and started writing. Cameron took some photos of us while we were busy. We have some new friends in High River, Canada. They will be able to read our pages and learn about life in our class. Hopefully they will add comments to our pages.

Unfortunately we did not have enough time today to finish all our writing, but we will get busy on it again next week. All P4 classes had to go to work on our End of term assembly. Claire taught the keep fit group a routine to do while we sing the ‘Bend, stretch, keep your body moving’ song. Claire’s mum teaches keep fit and helped us with the actions. We discussed costumes (see Neil’s post on this). Our props are nearly finished thanks to all the artists. We have had to make LOTS of programme covers - Devon has made 4 !

At Golden Time we had the auditions for the next week’s talent show. Each year group can only have 3 acts in the show and it will be a very hard decision for the teachers to choose who will be in it. Primary 4 have tap dancers, ballet dancers, jazz dancers, singers, pianists, magicians and even football acts. Very well done to everyone who auditioned.

Also this morning we were given out sponsor forms for our skipping challenge. We are raising money for Capability Scotland, helping people with disabilities. Neil’s dad is raising money for Capability Scotland by climbing Jbel Toubkal in Morocco. He came in to school to tell us about his task. We must remember to ask our parents permission before we ask anyone to sponsor us, and never ask strangers. Our skipping challenge is on Thursday 29th March.

Here is some of our artwork. We have been working with the art specialist. We drew pictures of Healthy food and Not so healthy food. dscn1174.JPG
