5A Being Active Assembly

February 28th, 2010 · No Comments

On the 24/02/10 5A did an assembly on Being Active. We were put into groups to present a small bit of information about being active.

There were several parts to the show including a part about peoples’ successes out of  school. The assembly went down very well. We prepared in groups of 4 for little parts of the assembly and we sang a wee scots song called Fitba Crazy and the audience joined in. The song we sang before we started the assembly was Special Kind of Hero.

The first thing we did in the assembly was the good and bad P.E kits.  Here was when 2 people showed examples of suitable clothing, and 2 unsuitable clothing for PE.  Secondly we did how to be a good or bad sportsman or woman.   For example, shaking hands even if you lose.

Next we sang the wee scots song about being fitba crazy.  Then we presented a small peice about Active schools.  We went on to do a part about Sports Relief.  Then we came to a part about succsess in the class.  Now it was time for the magnificent  athletic alphabet.   At the end we said the Athletic Alphabet which was when each person said a healthy activity for each letter.  We finished the assembly by singing fitba crazy.   It was a big hit and everybody exited the hall smilling.

KMPS School Bank

October 28th, 2009 · 4 Comments

Just a quick reminder that the School Bank is open every Thursday from 2.45 pm.   Children can pay in to an account with the RBS but can’t withdraw money.

Any children who wants to open an account with the RBS can either open one at their local branch or ask at the School Bank for a from.

The bank, manned by Mr McEwan and P6 and P7s, has been fairly quiet so we would appreciate parents encouraging their children to use this facility and encourage them to save.

As you will see, the report paints a very positive picture of the school. It is highly complimentary about the quality of the work we do, our achievements and the contributions that the pupils, parents and staff make to the success and happiness of the whole school community.

Draft Haddington Town Centre Strategy 2009 - 2014

June 16th, 2009 · 2 Comments

Currently there is an exhibition in the former Tyneside Tartans shop regarding the Haddington Town Centre Strategy 2009 - 2014. Children in Primary 5 and Primary 6 have been offering their opinions about our town.  We have been considering good points and are making suggestions for improvements. We are going to hand our opinions in to the Council so that they might be taken in to consideration too.

Here is a selection of our thoughts -

  • Cars make jams because they park at the kerbs
  • Traffic lights would be good at the end of the road on the way to Tesco
  • More bus stops would make it easier for older people to get around
  • We definitely need to stop people dropping gum on the ground.
  • The buildings are colourful, but paint is peeling from some shops.
  • I don’t feel safe walking past pubs.
  • There should be flashing lights on the school road to say there are kids crossing.
  • We need better tennis courts.
  • A crossing in Market Street would be good.

We had a puzzle though.  Outside which shop is there a hanging boot ?
