The S4 Modern Studies Prelim is on Thursday 20th November. Prelims are very important as they can be used if you need an appeal after the final exam in May and they also are a great opportunity to practice for the final exam! There are a few key things that you (and I) can do to ensure that you do your best.
What we can offer you:
- Revision in class before the exam
- Lunchtime revision sessions – Thursdays in T1.4
- Be available for any problems you may have
- Provide revision materials such as past papers.
What you can do:
- Make plenty of time for personal revision
- Attend any revision classes
- Make revision active! Use mind maps, highlighter pens, flashcards etc. Don’t just read over your notes.
- Practice exam questions from past papers.
Good Luck!

Resources for Modern Studies can be found anywhere and everywhere!
Like him or loathe him, documentary filmmaker Michael Moore has realised another ‘investigative’ film on the USA. This time he looks at the American Health Care system, focusing on the fact that it is a system which seems to be keeping the poor sick and the insurance companies very healthy indeed.
Released on October 26th it will be a very useful film to catch for Standard Grade Modern Studies students as we study inequalities in healthcare in the USA within our Ideologies unit. You can watch the trailer by clicking on the link below (hopefully!).

Hi everyone!
Our debate this week has been on ‘Do we still need NATO?’. A very important and controversial topic! One of the arguements for keeping NATO is that the rise in international terrorism has meant that we should keep our country as safe as possible by being part of the biggest military alliance in the world.
A point of discussion is….do you feel that international terrorism is a real threat to our safety or is it blown out of proportion?
Any thoughts?????

Hi Everyone!
This week we have been looking at the differences between the developed and the developing world. The gap between the rich and the poor on earth is huge - any ideas how we could change this???
