Posted by storey in : Community, School, Uncategorized , 3commentsNo, we’re not away quite yet (!) but will be moving down to North Yorkshire in the very early New Year. We hope to keep in touch with you and all the latest Humbie ongoings via the blog. Once Beth is started and settled in her new school it would be good to swap stories about what everyone is up to….
We’ve been very happy here and are sorry to be leaving the area but also excited about this next chapter in the Storey story!
We are looking forward to meeting and making new friends and to spreading the word about how great Humbie is!
It’s been a real pleasure being a part of the Humbie community, we’ll miss you … please keep in touch.

Humbie’s Exciting Visitors October 30, 2008
Posted by P4-7 in : Events, School , 2commentsOn Wednesday Jen a veterinary nurse brought in her barn owl called Alba and her tortoise called Brian. Jen told us about keeping Alba as a pet and looking after Brian. We all got to stroke Alba gently and hold Brian.
We learned that :-
owls have a skull the size of a ping pong ball
they are not very clever
they bring up pellets which contain bones and fluff of the things they have eaten.
If you find a baby owl beside the road move it to the side of the road as the mother will find it there. She will always be watching it.
We learned that Brian the tortoise was only 18 months old and he will live for about 60 years.

Posted by lockhart in : Blogroll, Community, East Lothian, Events, P1-3, P4-7, School, Teachers, Uncategorized , 5commentskym wants to tell every one about her recent adoption of Paddy the donkey, fromSt Boswells Donkey Sanctuary.
The Donkey sanctuary has 43 donkeys from all different back grounds, 4 were saved from the slaughter house, another from Blackpool beach, an other from Spain.
Paddy is the one that we adopted and the money we pay helps to feed Paddy, for 1 year.
Does anyone know how old a Donkey can live to?

Thank-you for teaching me about the Humbie Blog & how to use it. I had a really good evening learning all about it. You are all very good teachers. I hope that I have done my homework properly. Lots of people should look up the Humbie Blog regularly. It is very informative about Humbie & everything that goes on here. Good luck with it!
