The Playground
The school has a hard surfaced playing area and, in good weather, use is made of the local park by class teachers and the visiting PE teacher. A wooded area has also been added to the rear of the school. The school has regular use of the Village Hall, adjacent to the school.
The Playground surrounds the school. It is for all the children at Humbie School.
The children use it to relax and play at playtime and lunchtime. Their favourite games are dodge ball, hockey , football and basketball.
Sometimes the children go outside to learn maths and about the environment.
In the middle of the playground we have a planter. Mrs Whyte takes us there and teaches us how to look after a garden. We grow daffodils, vegetables and other plants.
The children like the playground. Here are some of their comments:
Orla says, “I like the games.”
Iola says, “I like the woodland area because there is lots of wildlife there like bugs. I once even saw a mouse.”
