We Were on the Radio! August 27, 2008

Posted by P4-7 in : Uncategorized , trackback

Today Orla, Anna, Jordan and Dani went to Talk 107 radio station. They were interviewed by Scott and Liz about Holly the Cow (see her blog http://edubuzz.org/blogs/holly/).

This is what they have to say about the experience:

Anna said, “It was a cool experience, I had great fun.”

Orla said, “It was a really good experience and I really enjoyed it. It was great to see how a real radio station works.”

Dani said, “I was very nervous but at the end I felt that it was easier than I thought.”

Jordan said, “I was nervous to start with but when I got inside the studio I was really excited. Liz and Scott were really funny.”

The rest of the school listened back at Humbie. They though that the P6’s were fantastic.

Well done everyone!

Just found! The Breakfast Show
Talk Radio 107 FM, Wednesday, 27 August 2008 10:20:58

Mmmmm, that smells nice!

It was a Breakfast Show smelling of fish & chips, creosote, rubber, tar, talcum, lemon, freshly made bread, newly mown grass, methanol, babies, wintergreen, curry, oranges, lemon, kebabs, dogs, sun tan lotion, coal, new cars, carpets and shoe polish! They were some of the suggestions as to your favourite smells. New research published today put fish & chips at the top of the list for Scots and we spoke with Professor Tim Jacob a smell expert who told us why we like certain smells.

We also had world champions on the show, the Stockbridge Pipe Band played live in the Talk Towers car park playing the 72nd Farewell to Aberdeen, Farewell to the Scots Guards and Farewell to the 74th. They were magnificent and we received loads of calls and texts re their performance so you can hear it again on our Listen Again facility.

And Humbie Primary School Primary 6 class visited us to tell us about their novel Enterprise scheme. Anna, Orla, Jordan and Dani came with teacher Mhairi Stratton came in to inform us that they have made £358 in their school enterprise scheme by rearing a calf called Holly and selling it back to a local farmer from whence it came. The class paid all of it’s vets bills and for it’s food and visited her regularly to see how she was progressing. The project is designed to give children vocational and entrepreneurial experiences.

I’ll beg Mrs Laing, Mrs Hillson and Mrs Stratton to note that the it’s/its confusion isnae mine! ;-)

Well done Anna, Orla, Dani and Jordan! I listened to you on the radio with another 60 newly qualified teachers. They thought you were fantastic and some of them would like to visit us at Humbie.
