“I really enjoyed making a poster about different kinds of monkey.  I found out that the red uakari is a monkey with a bright red face and head.  They live in the rainforest canopy, eating seeds and nuts with their jaws.” (Isabelle)

Lost in the Rainforest!

Last modified on 2009-05-17 08:33:43 GMT. 0 comments. Top.

Last week in writing we had to make up a story about being lost in the rainforest.  We watched a video about the rainforest and we had to look at all the animals.  We were very pleased with our work.

Here are some of our stories.

The Enchanted Tree

Last modified on 2009-05-24 21:03:33 GMT. 0 comments. Top.

In writing we wrote a story about an enchanted tree.  We had to read the beginning of the story and then continue it.  It was an imaginative story.

This is the beginning of the story we had to continue.

The Enchanted Tree

“Good gracious!” Beth said, “Its growing horse chestnuts just here!  What a very peculiar tree.”

“Well let’s hope it will grow apples and pears higher up,” said Frannie with a giggle.  “It’s a most extraordinary tree.”

Soon they were quite high up.  When Joe parted the leaves and tried to see out of the tree he was amazed to find that he was far higher than the tallest tree in the forest.  He and the girls looked down at the tops of all the other trees which looked like a broad green carpet below.

Joe was higher up than the girls.  Suddenly he gave a shout.  “I say girls, come up here by me quickly.  I’ve found something odd!”

Beth and Frannie climbed up quickly.

Here are some of our stories.

Aboriginal Snakes

Last modified on 2009-05-11 21:18:59 GMT. 0 comments. Top.

Here are some instructions for making these lovely Aboriginal Snakes, written by Georgia.

How to make a Snake

First you get coloured paint.  It can be any colour.

Second paint a snake’s head then paint the snake’s body.  It will be very thin so do a second coat.

Then put dots on the snake’s body then paint on the eyes and tongue.

 Kieran said:

“I liked making snakes in art.  You could make it any shape you want. I made mine like a spiral.”

Trip to Binning Woods

We went to Binning Woods on the 28th April 2009.  We learnt about how the forest was grown.  All the seeds blow there which is how the forest grows.  We did lots of exciting activities.  Here are some of them.

3D Pictures

We had to make 3D pictures using materials in the woods.  It was fun to make the pictures.

Buzzards and Crows

This game was like tig but better.  Everyone loved it.

Badgers

We played a game called ‘Badgers’.  We had to have a blindfold.  There was an orange piece of tape and we had to follow it.  We had to hold the person in front’s shoulder.  It was tricky becuase there were trees.

In the pond we saw lots of little tadpoles.  We also got to play in a grassy area.  There were lots of rabbit holes.  We saw broken trees.  There was a tree house.
