On Friday 15th February P6 wrote poems about apples. Here is how we went about getting inspired! We were all given an apple as a stimulus. On the board was an apple tree, with apples on it ready to be picked! We took it in turns to come out to the front of the class and pick an apple. Underneath each one was an instruction to follow. We wrote our answers in our ‘ideas for writing’ books. Making a list of our answers gave us a very simple poem. We were challenged to take our simple poems, and using our knowledge of Kit Wright’s style, create a more complex poem, which included simile, contradiction, opposites and alliteration. We then had to follow a set of instructions to create an apple for our poem to fit into.
