Reading Workshop - Character webs

Primary 5 have been learning how characters are related to each other in our novels.

We created character webs, showing the different types of relationships in our books and made a key to represent each relationship.

For example some of us used pipe cleaners for family links, feathers for friend links etc.

We are hoping that this will increase our understanding of our stories and give us some ideas for character relationships in our writing.

Here are some pictures of us working in our reading workshop groups and of our finished products.

Class Magazine

Our class made a class magazine. It has recipes, stories and poems in it. It is so cool!

poetry

I think that Miss Smith is really good at teaching fun ways about poetry she has done senses, alitarations, haiku s,imiles i liked sense poem because we had to pick a sence like taste, smell, sight, touch and miss smith added extra one feelings. I picked taste and well, when you pick a sense you have to pick another one to go after it E.G-
-i would like to taste the smelly paws walking along the floor.
do you get it now?

Poetry competition

We have been writing poems in class and if we want to we are aloud to enter a poem compatition, the prize is to get are poems published in a book. Some of us are doing them about dragons and some of us are doing them about senses.

Reading Workshop Tuesday 29th January

We are learning how an author develops a character using indirect characterisation. We learn more about them by how they act and what they say.
