Easter

In p5 we have been making little Easter boxes. We chose either a flower or butterfly then painted it. Then we stuffed soft, glittery straw stuff in whatever colour we liked. Happy Easter everyone and have a good holiday!

Electricity Challenge

Primary 5 have been designing and creating electrical models in science. We created design boards showing how our creations would be made and drew the circuit diagrams to go with them. They are still a work in progress for some of us but those who have finished have explained a little about how their models and circuits work.

Reading Workshop - Character webs

Primary 5 have been learning how characters are related to each other in our novels.

We created character webs, showing the different types of relationships in our books and made a key to represent each relationship.

For example some of us used pipe cleaners for family links, feathers for friend links etc.

We are hoping that this will increase our understanding of our stories and give us some ideas for character relationships in our writing.

Here are some pictures of us working in our reading workshop groups and of our finished products.

Shape

Primary 5 - many of you have commented that you have really enjoyed learning more about 2D and 3D shape this term.

Here are some of the links to the interactive games we have played so that you can have a go on your own:

Class Magazine

For the past couple of weeks p5 have been doing electricity. We have been playing with snap ‘n’ fix and been playing on cool electricity websites. It has been really fun!!!!

Maths: Tessellation

We have are looking at tessellation in maths. Tessellation is like tiling, it’s all about putting 2D shapes together with no spaces in between. Today we did some tessellation with shapes. The shape I got was the same shape as a ‘H’ in bubble writing. It was quite hard to find how a pattern but once I had it it was easy to draw around it and make a tessellation pattern.

Electricity

We have been learning about electricity. We got set a time and we had to make up slide shows to show to the rest of the class. I thought they were really interesting! At the end of our topic we get to make electronic models that actually work! I can’t wait! We have discovered how electricity effects Global Warming and that there are still some people nowadays that don’t have electricity!
