2009

There I was thinking 2007 couldn’t get much worse.  Oh dear.  I’ve just been told I have ovarian cancer, early stages so prognosis is good, but I’ll most likely need chemotherapy.  I’ll find that out on Thursday.  So I might be doing the Great Edinburgh Run next year in a wig, and I might be walking it, but I sure as hell plan to be there.  As sister no.3 has just asked “why is it the clean living one of the family this has happened to?” Positive thinking starts here and I think I’ll start looking forward to a good 2009.

Just to say that I’m thinking of you and your family at this time. Your attitude is an inspiration to us all. Hope all goes well.

Thinking of you. Just started running again so if you fancy some less experienced company in the Edinburgh run I’ll make that my target!

I expect you are all over the place right now. I have been with a dear friend through her cancer treatment this year and all I can say is that - if you are going to be sick - Edinburgh has some wonderful doctors, specialists and nurses to help you through it.

gpm - hmmmm, no platitudes…that is tough. You must be feeling pretty fed up.

I know you will get through whatever treatment they deem necessary with your usual wry humour and good sense. We (your cyber pals) are all rooting for you.

Sorry to hear your news, but very impressed with your outlook, and glad it has been caught early.

We missed you at yesterday’s eduBuzz Open Meeting, and look forward to having you back. I’m sure you’ll be back as soon as you can.

Another parent is interested in blogging, so you may have some more company before long. We tried to explain how valuable a parent’s perspective can be, using the example of communications taken shamelessly from your recent post ;-)

    Hi
I am planning to write a parent blog too, but feel a bit daunted reading your witty and amusing posts. My children are a good bit younger than yours, but I imagine many of the issues will be similar. It would be great to meet you sometime to compare notes; although I appreciate it’s probably not the best time at the moment.

I hope you don’t feel too poorly with your treatment.

Thanks everyone for all your good wishes. I seem to have so many new friends in cyberspace! I’m afraid I don’t feel very inspiring, brave, witty, wonderful, positive or amusing at the moment. Just plain scared and very, very CROSS!

Welcome, Newmumontheblock! It will be good to have company and we will have to meet up. As soon as I’m allowed to drive again I’ll propose another CoffeeBreak somewhere. I’m sure David will give you my email address if you want to contact me.

There’s nothing useful to say really is there? The usual blah of it being caught early. Sorry to hear your news, but glad that I’ve discovered your blog! I’m adding you to my blogroll…and sending out lots of good luck vibes.

Welcome, Pig! Thanks for dropping by. I think good luck vibes are the cyber equivalent of flowers, or maybe chocolates (GF of course).
