Now that the silly grin is starting to wear off GP1’s face and school is back in earnest, I thought it was time to reflect on our experience of sitting Standard Grades in S3. After all, this is pretty much where I came in, although my blog posts have since ambled off into all sorts of areas […]

Some standard reflections
Published August 23rd, 2007 in SQA, School and Standard Grades. 7 CommentsNo, nothing to do with school boards. But I thought the EduBuzz readership might enjoy this blog post on school supplies from a Scot exiled to America. Please don’t get too many ideas. Although I have bought Sharpies from Viking in the past…
I passed my HSE diving medical today. I thought I’d share that nugget with the world in general. It occurred to me that perhaps I should adopt an annual injury ploy as the doctor didn’t make me do the dreaded step-up-on-the-chair-to-see-if-you’re-fit test, on account of my unfortunate ankle. But on second thoughts… On a related theme, those wonderful people […]
The holiday from hell?
Published August 20th, 2007 in Diving, Family, Holidays and Islands. 2 CommentsSuperfluous to requirements on holiday:-
Shorts
Cropped trousers
Sun hats
Rounders bat
My crutches!

More warm things for under my drysuit
Wooly hats
Flask.

The tent.
I’m sure you get the idea. On our last two holidays on Coll we experienced weather […]
A secret handshake?
Published August 9th, 2007 in Blogging, Boys, Edinburgh, Islands and broken ankle. 6 CommentsLittlemummy, Mother at Large and Guineapigmum met up for coffee today at Victor Hugo’s. Perhaps there should be a special handshake for the secret - or very public - world of bloggers. It was fun to meet the faces behind some of the blogs I read and yes, we do have names as do our […]
I’ve just been having a chat with Mother at Large over on her blog, where she suggested a Bloggers Fest to add to all the Fringe fun. This is not so much a bloggers’ fest, nor even an Edinburgh Coffee Morning, more a blogging mums’ coffee break. The Guineapiglets are playing tennis at The Meadows […]
Standard Grade results are out and he’s done just fine! What a relief! I knew it wouldn’t in fact be the end of the world as we know it if he didn’t get the necessary grades - but respectable grades do make it so much more straighforward! He got Credits in the 6 exams he […]
The boys are back, exhausted and happy. They’ve had a ball and the concert yesterday was fantastic, a really high standard. They’re full of stories and are both set on going back again next year, so 6 hours a day of music and a hectic social scene has enthused rather than discouraged them. GP2 went straight to bed […]
Home Alone
Published August 1st, 2007 in Boys, Gardening, Golf, Music and Standard Grades. 0 CommentsI’m all on my own for a few days this week, with the boys in St Andrews and husband deep south on a school reunion. It feels quite strange - I don’t have to take anyone anywhere and can cook and eat what I want when I want. So instead of cooking dinner at the […]
