In preparation for their new Spanish teacher next year, some of the P2 children (and their parents) are going to try and learn a little Spanish over the holidays. Mrs Henderson has given us this link to a useful website:

We ran 543 and half miles today! May 14, 2008

As part of our Health Week activities every class from P1 to P7 went out to the field with Mrs Mckendrick and ran (or walked if they were getting tired) around a half mile circuit. Every time they completed a circuit they received a token and these were added up at the end of the day to see how far the school had travelled.
These were the results for the individual classes:
P1 57 miles
P2 71 miles
P3 70 miles

P4 66 miles
P5 104 miles
P6 78 miles
P7 97 and a half miles
Some classes have been outside skipping with Emma our Active Schools Co-ordinator.

dscf0374.JPGP2 have been learning about houses and homes. Today they have left their classroom and set up their class in two tents in the school grounds. Inspired by their recent work on “Send my friend to school” they are finding out what is is like for children around the world who have their lessons sitting under trees or in tents with their books on their knees. They have had snack outside and are planning to picnic for lunch too!in the tent

P2 visit to Dunbar Police and Lifeboat Station March 5, 2008

Here are the photos of today’s P2 visit.  There are lots so keep watching!

A BIG thank you PC Kevin Hughes, lifeboat mechanic Kenny Peters  and lifeboat crew man Kevin Keillort.  Also thank you to Ben and Beth’s mum Donna for helping out.

Our favourite bit was when Kevin did a roll into the water.  Unfortunately, I think it was the only thing I didn’t catch on camera!

Enjoy!

Update on P2 Portraits February 29, 2008

I’m sad to say that none of the P2 portraits were chosen for the shortlist of the ‘Draw Your Mum’ competition.  I thought they were FANTASTIC!  The children put a huge amount of effort into their portraits and the result was detailed and realistic drawings.

However, all of that effort has not gone to waste as mum’s have received a photograph of their child’s beautiful drawing and the great news is……….all of the children’s pictures have gone on show at a special exhibition at Ocean Terminal from today until Sunday.  So go and have a look!

You also might be able to see the children’s drawings in the newspaper or the Evening News’ website next week because there were so many entries received.

Well Done P2!

P2 Mother’s Day Portraits February 27, 2008

We have been learning to draw a portrait using pencils.  We had to remember to use the pencils lightly and to have an egg shaped head.

We have entered the pictures into the Evening News’ ‘Draw Your Mum’ competition.  So look in Friday’s Evening News to see if any of the pictures were chosen for the short list and vote for your favourite.

Please enjoy looking at our pictures.  Happy Mother’s Day from P2.

On Monday 18th February Amanda Braid from WRAP (Waste & Resources Action Programme) came to our assembly.  She told us about why is was important to use a composter, how to compost and what we were allowed to put in our composter.

She had a composter cut in half so we could see what happens inside.
