P4 Enterprise June 15, 2008
Posted by elps in : Enterprise, Primary 4 , 5comments| The children in P4 have been very busy over the past weeks preparing for ‘ A Musical Sing Song’. They enthusiastically performed on 11th June, to a tremendous turn out of Senior Citizens from the local community and again to their proud parents on 13th June. The children and Miss Wallace are indebted to Joyce Murray (better known as Granny Joyce to pupils) for her immeasurable help, inspirational guidance and outstanding piano playing. Thanks also to the Parent Council who kindly agreed to serve refreshments whilst the pupils chatted eagerly to their audience. > |
Murals brighten up our playground May 26, 2008
Posted by elps in : Community, Enterprise , 5commentsLast Friday our three murals were mounted on the school building. Thanks to Laura Young, our mural artist, who worked with all classes to produce these wonderful murals to brighten up our grounds. Two of them are situated in the infant playground at the rear of the school and the third is on the approach ramp to the Nursery. The Nursery also has a new sign. Thank you to East Lothian Council Arts Service who gave us financial support towards the project. Thank you too to the parents who came and helped supervise the painting and to Mick and Paul for putting them up.
P2 take learning outdoors May 13, 2008
Posted by elps in : Enterprise, Primary 2 , 7commentsP2 have been learning about houses and homes. Today they have left their classroom and set up their class in two tents in the school grounds. Inspired by their recent work on “Send my friend to school” they are finding out what is is like for children around the world who have their lessons sitting under trees or in tents with their books on their knees. They have had snack outside and are planning to picnic for lunch too!

What a lot of rubbish! April 18, 2008
Posted by elps in : Community, Eco schools, Enterprise , 2commentsThe whole school was out and about in the village this morning, dressed in protective tabards and gloves and wielding litter pickers. It was a damp and drizzly morning but that did not deter us and we collected a fantastic amount of litter - 8 large sacks full!
Thanks to all the parent and community helpers who joined in.

This Friday (18th April) the whole school is taking part in “Keep Scotland Beautiful” Big Spring Clean. We are going out and about in the village to give it a tidy up. We are proud of our village and want to do our bit to show that we are responsible citizens who care for the environment we live in. We would love to have some more parents and friends join us - if you give us a call beforehand on 860216 we can allocate you to a particular class. If not, you can just turn up at school at 11am.
Keep Scotland Beautiful have supplied us with some bright yellow tabards so you won’t miss us, and the council are supplying us with protective gloves and litter pickers.

Here are the photos of today’s P2 visit. There are lots so keep watching!
A BIG thank you PC Kevin Hughes, lifeboat mechanic Kenny Peters and lifeboat crew man Kevin Keillort. Also thank you to Ben and Beth’s mum Donna for helping out.
Our favourite bit was when Kevin did a roll into the water. Unfortunately, I think it was the only thing I didn’t catch on camera!
Enjoy!

This term, we have been finding out about our village. We visited the High Street, took photos and carried out a survey. Our parents and some people we met in the village answered our questions. When we came back to school, we did Walkabout Talkabout to find out the results. Now we have to record these. Look out for our next post when we will share our findings.
