Some lucky P4 and P5 pupils went to the Dr. Who Time Traveller Classical Concert at the Queens Hall in Edinburgh on Sunday, 26th October. Matt from the Scottish Opera orchestra held a one hour workshop in the school prior to the concert visit and this gave the pupils an excellent introduction to the different parts of an orchestra and the instruments. He played his tuba for the pupils – it was fantastic!

Thanks to BNS Nuclear Services , Oscar the Robot entertained the pupils at assembly on Friday as part of an introduction to the Torness Challenge. Each school taking part has been provided with two Kinex kits and have been asked to produce an operating wind turbine. The end product will be tested at Torness using a fan and the amount of electricity generated will be recorded. This project will be undertaken by P7 – good luck to them!!
There are two other elements to the project which other classes work on - designing a safety poster based and researching the history of wind turbines an alternative source of power.
The challenge is on….we have six weeks to complete our mission!

This was the county quaulifying tournament for the Scottish Cup and was played at Neilson Park in Haddington. Our team did very well, almost causing an upset against the favourites. It was a very close final game and we came third overall.
The week before the Primary 7 team played Ormiston here at East Linton. We lost 10 -4 on this occasion.
Our next game is an away game at West Banrs. Congratulations to Finn in P7 who has been selected as goalkeeper in the East Lothian County Primary School Squad.
P4 Romans have a feast! October 28, 2008

On the last day of term P4 had a Roman Feast. Did you see the photo in the Courier? The feast was called Fontinalia which was held each year in October in honour of the Goddess of Water, Fons. Traditionally, Romans garlands were thrown into fountains as an offering - P4 threw their garlands into a makeshift fountain (Amelia’s paddling pool!) before tucking into the feast. Visitors from other classes were treated to food, songs and gladiator fights.
A really fun morning was had by all to end a busy and exciting Term 1.
