P7 arrive safely at camp September 29, 2008

Primary 7 left this morning for Dounans Outdoor Centre, near Aberfoyle.  We have heard from Miss Wallace that they arrived safely and everyone is feeling fine and getting into the swing of things at camp.  We will post updates as we get them, but remember that they have a packed programme and that “no news is good news!”

East Linton Exploring September 29, 2008

Primary Three have been learning about East Linton in their topic “My Village”. On Thursday afternoon, with the help of some parents, we split into small groups and spent the afternoon in East Linton. We walked around having a look at the landmarks and taking photos. We also had a questionnaire which we asked local people to find out what they liked and disliked about our village. We met some people who had lived in the village for 55 years!

 We also found out that most people loved living in East Linton but reopening the train station would make the village better.

European Day of Languages September 25, 2008

Friday 26th September is European Day of Languages which is a day to celebrate all the different languages spoken and to encourage life-long language learning. P6 and P7 are learning French and German but P7 had a go at Spanish as well today and sang “La Bamba” They did very well and had great fun! Gracias Senorita Fleming!

Here is a picture of Pvblivs Clavdivs Tacitvs.  He visited our class on Tuesday. He had a real sword, a real dagger, a real wooden shield and had red feathers on his helmet.  He had brown leather sandals and stinky socks!

We were a bit scared till we found out he was not a real soldier, just a man dressed up as one. He told us lots of stories about what it was like being a Roman soldier.

What is inside your lunchbox? September 24, 2008

P3 have been learning about healthy eating and how we can group foods into different categories. We have been working hard to make a big display in our classroom, and have been doing activities to do with healthy eating and food in all our different subjects, such as maths and ICT.

Have a look at our wondeful lunchboxes - fantastic work Primary Three!!!!!

Mrs Gordon and I are very happy with how hard the P3’s worked not only in making their own lunchboxes but also in helping to create the classroom display.

Well done East Linton!

Our village received  silver in the large village category of Beautiful Scotland Awards and was also named as the most improved village.

A Special Award for Something Special was given for the school’s extra curricular work about John Muir. David Affleck showed us the awards at assembly.

 

 

P4 archaeologists find Roman treasures September 21, 2008

P4 are learning about the Romans and a visitor called Sarah came in from the Museum Service to tell us about Roman things that have been found in Scotland. P4 really enjoyed having Sarah to our school. We looked at stuff that archaeologists found. Sarah gave us jackets to wear.

Grand Opening of Wildlife Garden September 21, 2008

The opening of our Wildlife Garden will take place on Friday 3rd October. All parents and carers are cordially invited to come along and witness representatives from each class cutting a ceremonial ribbon. Pupils can take part in a Garden Hat Competition and we will also be a venue for The Big Draw event where we aim to cover the playground in chalk nature drawings.

Fingers crossed for good weather!

Parent Council raise £100 from Coffee Afternoon September 8, 2008

The Parent Council would like to thank everybody who supported our coffee afternoon on Thursday 4th September and also to the many people who purchased home baking in the playground.  We managed to raise a very healthy £100.  Thanks agains for your support and to all the helpers and home bakers.
